SL GDT: Wolves vs. Bulls

Post by Camden [enjin:6601484] »

What are you looking forward to seeing today? Can Jaylen Nowell, Jaden McDaniels, and Nathan Knight show some consistency with another solid performance? Will any of the other guys make an impression?

McDaniels has been great in this first half on both ends of the floor. My one criticism would be that he hasn't shown anything new to his game... yet?

Wolves might have something with Wright.

Just finished the game.

1st off the Wolves won by 19. Go wolves I guess.

The game was so boring. Like so boring.

Wolves played great D. Why they won the game. Great defensive effort.

Knight: has some skill but seems like he gets tired a lot. He missed a good amount of open 3s.

McDaniels: locked up Willians and he still makes amazing plays on D. He showed flashes on offense. The issue is he has a really loose handle, he had the ball knocked away by Williams multiple times. Feel like he is better but don't think we going to get that gigantic 2nd year jump (he is still a massively valuable player)

Nowell: he shot a lot and he missed a lot. Just see him as an inconsistent heat check guard at the moment and with a team with a lot of offense on it don't know how valuable that will be.

Wright: tried his ass off on D. Williams tried to post him up early and didn't give up ground. The thing is he is very limited on offense. He has an ok floater game but that is it. He does not even look to shoot 3s. Happy he is on a 2-way because he has defensive chops but if he is a 0 threat to even look to shoot 3s he will really struggle to grab a niche in the NBA

Overall really boring game. The 4 players who matter 3 were not good (knight, Nowell, wright) mcdaniels was very solid but not much difference from last year (once that is an above average NBA piece)

Finally had a chance to watch this game:

- Holy crap that was some ugly basketball!

- Over two games, the Wolves starting 5's +/- is as follows (totals): McDaniels +24; Bowen +12; Knight +19; Nowell +25; Wright +19. Why so good? Defense. McDaniels and Wright stand out the most.

- Offensively, today was disappointing. I didn't think Wright or Nowell did enough to quarterback the offense and create good looks for themselves or others. Things got gummed up and Wright's unwillingness to let the 3 fly is a problem at this level. Nowell struggles to create separation between himself and a defender.

- McDaniels continues to try to make things happen offensively. He just doesn't have tight enough handles or a quick enough first step to put a lot of pressure on the rim. However, he does have a pretty nifty euro-step and his length allows him to get a clean look whenever he wants on pull ups.

- The announcers for this game were gushing over Patrick Williams. Seeing that he was the #4 pick in last year's draft with a year in the League under his belt, I wasn't all that impressed with him on offense. May be it had something to do with Jaden guarding him a good portion of the game. He was OK-ish from the field, but had 6 TOs. I guess he's probably similar to Jaden in that ultimately his role with the Bulls is more as a defender and catch-and-shoot guy.

OK, we'll see with only 24 hours of rest whether they can keep it up tomorrow!

Edit: LOL, just saw Kekgeek wrote up his summary too! We'll have to compare notes and see how different or same we saw things!

Looks like we were mostly on the same page Kek.

On Knight...On no level of organized ball has he hit the 3 at a passable rate. He needs to stop taking them at this point. I also agree he seems to get winded easily and then ends up reaching too much defensively. Something to keep an eye on.

Zodiac analysis:

Mc Wirght 10/25/98 wood snake dog tiger: Need a horse = lucky day

People born snake day is very quick mind and decision but very selfish. Their eyes can see things very fast than any zodiac that's why everything is slow motion for them. Their object is money ONLY. Now let's compared to people born snake day Kobe bryant, chris paul, Damian Lillard, Bryn Forbes, Lamelo ball, Serge Ibaka, Mike Conley, Tyrese Haliburton, Rudy Gay, Spencer Dinwiddie, dwight howard, and Trae Young. Lets compared Trae 9/19/98 snake rooster tiger almost similar but now if he can switch his number 25 (still very good #) to any combination add up to 2 like trae 11 and okogie 20, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2, Gary Trent Jr. (born 99 but Lunar is 98) 2 .

If Born 98 = 9+8 =17 = 8 then 10- 8 = 2 then he will be the next Trae or Okogie...lol

Everybody including fans, announcers, and writers tend to overreact to these games. I really just watch to see how the key players fare against competition at a similar stage of development. On the Wolves the only thing that really matters is the development of McDaniels. I thought he was excellent in the first half and average at best in the 2nd. I was hoping he would take this opportunity to act like an alpha and dominate more offensive possessions. But I don't think 13 shots is enough for him in this setting. If he can't get his looks with this group, he has no chance with the guys he will be playing with come fall. On the positive front, I wouldn't trade him for last seasons' #4 pick Williams. I guess that's saying something.

Like I said, nothing else really matters. Nowell can't get much better than he already is. Knight is a non-rotational player on a decent team. Wright has a chance to maybe help one day. Other than that, hope football gets here quick.

You were right in saying that fans tend to overreact to these games, you proved it by overreacting to McDaniels performance in this one game.
