Look at the numbers this guy put up as a rookie. I think he's better than knight.
Nathan Knight is a much better rebounder and defender than Eric Paschall. The latter is only better in terms of perimeter shooting and I would consider him fool's good in relation to his 37-percent mark last season on low volume. Better than Knight, but still not all that good. A very nice value signing for sure, but I would temper expectations a bit.
Got a feeling Paschall will spend a ton of time on the NBA roster this year. This signing allows the wolves to put Minott down in Iowa and Paschall can be the emergency big/wing

It looks like Paschall is productive when given minutes at the NBA level. It's hard to overlook that he made the 1st team all-rookie squad. I think Knight has promise but as someone said, the most important ability is availability. I don't know what the stats say, but my impression is Knight has not been able to stay on the floor due to foul trouble.
But who knows what this front office is thinking -- they confound us at every turn!
Interesting. I wonder if the rules for who could sign a 2 way deal has changed. What I had seen was guys with 3 seasons of NBA service time were not eligible. If I would have known that there were probably some other guys I would have been interested in as well.
Paschall is a guy I had liked to add to the roster but I didn't think there was gonna be a spot for him. Getting him on a 2 -way sounds good to me. He has been a solid NBA player and improved his 3 point shooting every year. He provides some depth and he is a guy that has some ability to do various things and has done it at the NBA level for 3 seasons and 2 of those season was for playoff teams. Why was he available? My guess is he isn't good defensively and isn't a good rebounder. I like that he is a guy with a lot of athletic ability and girth. That's something that was lacking on the roster in general. I'm not saying he is awesome but for an end of the bench guy yeah that sounds great. There is going to be some legit competition for minutes on this roster.
Is he better than Knight? I say right now yes because he has done some good things at the NBA level already on a somewhat regular basis. Will Knight he better this season? Yeah I think that's quite possible. It's nice to have both of them and they cost hardly anything and Knight's contract isn't guaranteed. Knight is probably the first player to go if the Wolves decide they need to fill another need with a FA or end up being able to sign someone that's a clear upgrade in season. Either guy could end up being a cheap depth piece for this team for more than just this year. I like both players and they both offer interesting skill sets.

I don't think the Wolves brass are inclined to let Knight go. They appear to like him a lot. The fact that he was one of the few Wolves players from last season at the Vegas Summer League was pretty telling. Signing him to a regular roster contract was another clear-cut sign of how much the Wolves front office/coaching staff like him. But as you suggested, he's the logical odd man out if a major need surfaces or a clear upgrade suddenly becomes available during the season.

You do make a good point. Knight does have a partially guaranteed deal for next season too which makes him one of the only cheap roughly vet min guys with that kind of contract. To me that's probably more valuable in that the team can say yeah we know we can keep him if we want than a strong commitment though.
To make that case stronger I forgot Rivers also has a partially guaranteed deal. Still I see Paschall as a guy that could step into a role if needed instead of Knight. At this point we will see if the Wolves could sign someone better than either guy. Of course someone could also get injured and they let that guy go to replace them with someone healthy.
I do feel like a bit of a homer but I think there is a real chance Rivers turns out to be a pretty solid player for the Wolves and he isn't projected to be a guy that plays much if everyone is healthy. It seems like he may be a better defender than I was aware of although I had thought he had become decent. Elite like Connelly I think said? :) No but pretty good or easily above average and the fact that he can do a few things offensively besides just standing here and shooting doesn't hurt either. It also seems he isn't out there jacking up and hunting shots so that's good too. I know fans of teams say this every year but it does feel like the Wolves have done a nice job building in depth into their roster. They do still have a lack of true size behind Towns and Gobert but they also have various options of guys to play PF or C or whatever next to whoever is still healthy. Paschall has the physicality even though undersized that we haven't had for a while. They basically had just 4 bigs last year in Towns, Vanderbilt, Naz and Knight. This year they have Gobert, Towns, Naz, Knight, Anderson, Paschall (undersized and doesn't rebound well but weighs like 260lbs) and I guess even Minott. Of course they still have the SFs they can play at PF at times too but it looks to me like are looking to stay bigger more of the time which I think most of us like to see.
