Cam's checking on whether Eric can be signed to our remaining 2-way deal. Otherwise, someone is definitely on the way out. And that would mean a deal is probably in the works. I don't see the Wolves simply releasing Naz Reid before his contract becomes guaranteed.

As of right now, my understanding is that Eric Paschall is signed to a one-year deal that is non-guaranteed to get him into camp. He'll battle for a spot against Nathan Knight and perhaps even Naz Reid for a spot on the main roster. If he's cut in camp, then I would expect him to be signed to a two-way deal for the remainder of the season as he is eligible.
If Paschall were to somehow win a spot and make the roster, then I could see Knight waived and signed to a two-way deal as he's eligible as well. His deal is only partially guaranteed for the upcoming season to the tune of $350,000. The Timberwolves are bringing in competition and making guys earn their spot. I like it.

Re: Wolves sign Eric Paschall
After some deep research (ie googling and watching a couple of videos) he's an interesting player. Seems to be quick and bouncy for his size (I've seen him described as anywhere from 6'5" to 6'8"... seems to closer to the low end of that range), great handle, good midrange shot, decent defensively, not great rim protection, not great 3pt shot. Came into the league with the Warriors as an older rookie in the mid 2nd round, got alot of run because of injuries and make the 1st all-rookie team. Then guys came back from injuries and he fell out of the rotation, traded to the Jazz for a second round pick. He was a solid rotation player for the Jazz last season. I saw this from a recent article: "Paschall spent time at the power forward and center positions last year, and while he was no stalwart defensively, his bullying style of offensive basketball and an improved 3-point shot made him a fan favorite.... In short, it feels like perhaps the most likely explanation is that the Jazz's new brain trust, with Danny Ainge, David Fizdale, and Will Hardy, simply don't value Paschall ... at the same level the old brain trust did."

For what it's worth, I do not think Eric Paschall is better than Nathan Knight. I do think Paschall would be a worthy two-way signing, however, I would have preferred taking a flyer on Sharife Cooper.

Chris Hine has a source noting that Eric Paschall is on a two-way deal.

I like it. The guy proved he can play in the NBA, while all these other guys are potential. We have a lot of those already. Maybe he has refined his game a bit now and is hungry again. It also does allow us a better small ball option.

I like this signing and love it if it's just a 2 way. I value him over knight for sure.

Look at the numbers this guy put up as a rookie. I think he's better than knight.

I think Knight has more upside and he's definitely a lot longer than Paschall. From a physical standpoint, Knight is a true PF or small-ball center with a 9'1.5 standing reach. As a college senior, Knight averaged 10.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 20 points in 27 minutes per game. He also shot over 50% from the field. In contrast, Paschall as a college senior averaged only 6 rebounds and 16.5 points in over 36 minutes while shooting around 44% from the field. Paschall has had more NBA minutes than Knight and we've seen that he remains a substandard rebounder at the PF position with no rim protection in his game. I guess I'm OK signing Paschall to a 2-way deal, but I wouldn't elevate him over Knight.
