So there could be a better Porter Jr. ?

I saw that. Michael Porter was Denver's true draft steal. I still have major doubts about Bol Bol. There were too many questions about his passion for and commitment to the game. But with Porter, Jokic and Murray, the Nuggets will be a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference for many years.

Yep. And they were in a position to do so because they already had such a deep, talented team. If the picks pan out... wow! If they don't... meh.

Unlike the Wolves who NEED their picks to be good because they're the foundation pieces. A lot has changed since that 82nd game a couple of years ago, huh?

Their draft record has been amazing even when they needed it to be. They've been hitting wherever they pick for a while. Their highest picks in this last iteration have been 7 twice. They're really an example that you dont need to tank to build a winner, you just need to draft well wherever you are at.

Absolutely right, Doper. Denver's foundational pieces are Murray and Jokic. One was a #6 pick, the other #41. Porter was #14. The Warriors foundational pieces for their record-setting season were Curry, Thompson and Green - picks 7, 11 and 35.

The Wolves have one foundational piece, Towns, who they drafted at #1. Since then they're whiffed repeatedly - taking Dunn instead of Murray or Buddy H at #6, and taking Patton instead of Collins or Anunoby at #16. They probably wigged last year trading up for Culver instead of taking the guy Miami picked and using Saric to acquire other assets. Of course, there were multiple whiffs before Towns, including Bazz instead of Giannis or McCollum and cash instead of Gobert.

No franchise can be expected to hit on every draft pick or repeatedly hit it out of the park. But the best organizations hit on a significant number of their draft opportunities without lottery luck or tanking.

Best draft picks in Wolves history? Shouldn't be a long list.

1.) KG
2.) Love or Towns, both are fairly similar that they are great/were great offensively but cannot defend
3.) Marbury?
4.) Zach Lavine/Wally World/Pek

Am I missing any? lol

We should do a list of picks after the Wolves, including sold picks.

That list would be better! Just off the top of my head,

Steph Curry
Rudy Gobert
Rip Hamilton
Brandon Roy
Jeff Teague
Gallinari
Demarcus Cousins
CJ McCollum
TJ Warren
DLO
Buddy Hield
Ray Allen

These guys were picked 1 pick AFTER the Wolves. I might have missed a relative player or two. lol

So here is the picked 1 pick after the Wolves possible current team-

-PG Curry/DLO/Hield
-SG McCollum/DLO
-SF TJ Warren/Hield
-PF Gallinari/Warren
-C Gobert/Cousins

We have an overload of good-great guards, we need to make a trade for another wing player or two!!! But I think we could have won a chip, at least contended.

Doug West and Bjelly were pretty good 2nd round picks. If I looked it up...I know I'm forgetting someone else that was at least really solid pick. You know what Laettner wasn't a bust just not a star and was grumpy. Was Isaiah Rider a bust? Seems like it was a good deal when we traded him I mean we got guys named Bill Curley and Hollywood Robinson back in a deal for him! Yes I looked up what they got for him and then went down a rabbit hole. Classic Wolves they picked Paul Grant With The draft pick they got for Rider. The thing was though the Wolves ended up with a number of solid to good NBA players from that draft year on their team later. McHale and Flip did make some pretty good moves To make up for some poor decisions kinda like Memphis did building their grit and grind team. Of course one of those players they acquired from that draft and then let go was Billups. They also had Bobby Jackson and Hudson.
