We cut a guy who clearly should be starting. You can't make this up anymore.

If RHJ was the best PF on our roster then we are truly screwed....

It just blows my mind that Jarred Vanderbilt is still on the roster. I would have taken Rondae Hollis-Jefferson over Ed Davis too, for what it's worth.

Yeah but Ed Davis is there as a back up to KAT. We are literally never going to play big unless there is a rotation with KAT at the 4 that we havent seen yet. Its insane in the West. Were going to get our asses handed to us inside by all of the top teams.

I think Naz Reid is already better than Ed Davis, which makes Davis somewhat expendable, but I agree with the rest of your comment. This team is small, slow, and poorly coached. I hope they can win in spite of that.

Yeah were slow and we want to play fast. We're small but not in effective height. We're bad shooters who want to launch 3s. We want to play a drop scheme with guards that cant stay in front of their man and a big who loves to gamble. Other than that this team makes perfect sense.

I... don't... understand.

I know the Wolves don't have any adult leaders on the court... but now I'm questioning whether they have it in the front office.

Salary cap bungling aside... RJH was the best "value" contract on the team. Wasn't it a vet minimum contract for being one of the few non-net negative players on the roster?

It seems like he fits the Rosas blueprint...

Athletic and extremely raw. Apparently, he believes we have a decade to figure out which guys will play. So the Wolves win 35% of their games... again.

Meh. The fans will be patient. After all, we're only Year 2 in the rebuild.*

* For the Rosas regime.

Wow, I don't know what to say about rosas anymore. I thought it was pretty obvious to anyone with eyes that he should be starting. Saw a comment from Ryan about how he planned to use him, so guessing it was news to him also... just wow. Suppose it's nice for rosas to have a coach who can never question him (because Ryan would never be a head coach anywhere else)

Jon K reported the Wolves signing RHJ again is a possibility. Why? Looking at my spreadsheet the Wolves are over 3 million under the Lux tax. Add in RHJ vet min salary that counts against the cap and it drops to just under 1.5 million. What that means is if the Wolves kept RHJ and there was injuries they would be in tough shape to bring in anyone and stay under the tax.

Now we can talk about how the roster and salary management led to this but the roster and salaries are set. What are some options?

Go into the luxury tax and be a repeat offender.

Keep an open roster spot in case you need it to add to the roster and save some money as well. It also offers the chance to have some space in case there was some sort of trade.

Another possibility is they wait however many days until they saved enough money from a 15th guy being on the roster to sign RHJ and have a little more breathing room in terms of space to bring in someone else. I read something that also said depending on how well the league is doing there might be some relief to teams in terms of the Lux tax if things go better than expected. So maybe in a couple weeks or a month or whatever the Wolves bring back RHJ. Maybe the guys they have play well and they don't bring him back at all.

It's also possible they are looking at some trades to bring in an upgrade at PF.

Let's see what happens it's possible they are doing something that is less than a disaster. I'm not exactly comforted though. There are going to be other guys that likely could help teams cut loose too. 4 teams are hard capped so they can't even have a 15th roster spot.

One thing to consider is that some people are wondering why do the Ed Davis trade? It's a fair question but it's worth remembering that if the Wolves just cut both Spellman and Evans and kept RHJ and even another vet min contract it would actually cost more than Ed Davis and a vet min deal like RHJ. It's a relatively small amount A little over 600k but apparently it seems to matter. I still believe Ed Davis will also be able to help this team this year on the floor.
