Potential Trade Partners
Re: Potential Trade Partners
If we do make a trade, this might make sense. Dallas now needs a center with Dwight Powell's Achilles injury; Dieng for Courtney Lee and Jalen Brunson. If we aren't going to use Dieng for 20 plus minutes, we could ship him and get Brunson on a cheap deal and he is an upgrade over Napier and a possible long term rotation piece. Lee's deal is an expiring one to make the trade work. Dallas has Donic with Wright backing him up and more depth with Barea and Curry. Vonleh and Naz could soak up Dieng's minutes.

Ya I thought of that also. The only thing do they want to trade a future asset in Brunson (don't know how good he will be) for an asset in gorgui that won't move the needle for them. But who knows, not a bad idea for sure

Another important angle is to identify those teams that might have an interest in a trade with the Wolves. I'm assuming the Wolves would want a fairly young high upside player future picks (or both) in a deal. My assumption is based on things Rosas has said about building forget future around KAT, including the need to assemble a roster of players around Towns age.
I see three categories of teams that would appear to be more viable as trade partners for the Wolves.
One category consists of teams that are certain to make the playoffs and want to enhance their chances of advancing in the playoffs and possibly compete for a championship this season. These teams include Miami, Toronto, Boston, Indiana and Philadelphia in the East along with Denver, Utah, Dallas, the Clippers and Houston in the West. Some teams, in this category would likely have a strong interest in acquiring Covington. They might also have an interest in Layman, Bell or Vonleh.
A second category consists of teams that are competing just to get into the playoffs with a 7th or 8the seed. These teams include Orlando, Brooklyn, Detroit and possibly Chicagoland Charlotte in the East. In the West, it's every team except Golden State,.
The final category consists of those team that are so bad they're ready to blow it up right now and start accumulating assets now that they can use to begin rebuilding. I'd put the Wizards at the head of this list, which would also include the Knicks. Perhaps the Wizards are ready to move on from Beal. Would they swap him for Wiggins? I doubt it, but I'd give it a shot of I were Rosas. Perhaps Covington could be packaged in a deal for Beal.
In any event, these are the most likely trade partners, assuming they have something we'd like.
I think they'd do it for Wiggins, culver and a first, but then what? Do you think we ever get past the first round with Beal/towns/cov? At first I was going to say not likely, but actually I think this might be our best shot IF we're committed to towns for the long term.

Boy are you ever overrating Beal. Washington has never gotten anywhere with Wall and Beal healthy along with otto porter, kelly oubre, morris, etc.
Can't believe you are ready to give up essentially two lottery firsts for him.

Didn't say I was ready to do it, I said if we want to to commit to towns long term, someone like Beal is probably our best option. That's what it would take to get him... do you disagree?? If you want to quote me on what I'm ready to do, I'd lean toward trading towns, because I think towns/Beal gets past the 1st round maybe once in the next 4 years if they're lucky.
Also... in the scenario that we keep towns, are you telling me you wouldn't do that trade do get a trio of towns/cov/Beal? I mean sure I'd hope that we could get him for just Wiggins and culver or or Wiggins and a first, but if those were available, I think they would have been done already.
