So is this to find out if a better version of Crabbe found in free agency next summer will fit next to Towns in the kick ass offensive system?
Basically, moving deck furniture around.
Allen Crabbe

No it is for the annual late season run to give everyone hope that things will change next year.

I don't think Crabbe is enough for that.
He's ... well... not good.

So he will fit right in then?

Also rumors that I don't know how true they are but that Towns and Teague don't see eye to eye
Yeah, more like eye to navel.

Agree with Abe...not much to see here. Glad I don't have to watch Teague anymore, but nothing about this deal makes us any better other than perhaps aesthetically.
Crabbe can shoot, but as we have discussed before, it's REALLY hard to find wings that can do multiple things well and Crabbe is a one-trick pony. He's not a play maker. He's not a good defender. He doesn't get to the line. Etc. Also, he's at the age where most players are hitting their peak, yet he has seemingly been in decline the past couple of years. Does anyone think Minnesota is the place for a career revival? Not me!

Teague was always stumping for Tyus To play more and often was pleading for Towns to get the ball more. He was often talking about playing a more modern approach (switching) to defense. He isn't a modern player but he wasn't exactly a guy that seemed to be in love with Thibs or anything.
Re: Allen Crabbe
This opens up a roster spot which could have some value. Either to sign a player or accept one in a trade. Crabbe is an actual shooter although he is sucking this season you could argue he is likely the 2nd best 3 point shooter on the whole team. Will they play him? Idk but honestly he makes a little more sense if they want to actually shoot the ball etc. he isn't a guy that is going to run point or get his shot a lot but he can dribble his way out of a paper bag smoothly and has some length and athletic ability. A fringe NBA player that can and will shoot the 3 is what this team has been searching for so yeah sure why not? How long till we can package him in another deal?
It's too bad Graham couldn't hit 3's this year...like at all. Teague this deal seems almost like a favor more than anything else. It seems like it makes sense to just move on. The Teague traders should be happy. :)

Man our PG situation is brutal. They better be thinking of something, because watching Napier is really painful.
Re: Allen Crabbe
I'd really like to believe that there's something much more behind this deal. I have a gut feeling that there is more to this deal than simply creating a roster spot. So I'll keep my fingers crossed.
As it is right now, can't say this deal is a bad one. But it's clearly a nothing burger at best if not tied to something more significant. I'm not one of those who thought we'd get a first round pick for Teague. However, I do think we could and should have gotten a 2nd round pick. If George Hill can command a low 1st round pick then surely Teague was worth and should have commanded a 2nd round pick.
If this organization's plan is truly focused prospectively on building around KAT over these first 3 years of his 5-year deal as they've indicated, then they need to make moves consistent with that plan. Right now, that means lots of playing time for Culver, Okogie, Nowell, Martin, Reid and Vonleh as well as Layman when he returns. It also means accumulating tradable assets by the trade deadline that can be used next summer for possible deals or to draft talent. I just don't see how Allen Crabbe comes anywhere close to being consistent with our front office's purported plan. I don't see the point of a plan if you don't align all your decisions with that plan.
I guess we just have to hope the Wolves use this opportunity to sign Martin to a good long-term deal to fill the roster space created by the deal. I suppose that aligns with the front office's future-focused plan. I also have to admit that it will be a relief not watching Jeff Teague slow the offense and play matador defense. So I'm not upset by the deal. Just a bit disappointed.
