A couple takeaways:
1) It's nice to pick first! Look how many of those guys ended up all-stars or hall of famers.
2) Still, it's no guarantee you'll get an All-Star of a HOFer.
3) Sometimes, those picks SUCK (paging Kwame Brown and Anthony Bennett). It's not their fault they were picked first, but yeesh.
4) Shaq was a freakin' monster from the get-go. 23 and 14? As a rookie?! Da-ya-um. Boy, Blake had a great rookie year too. I forgot that.

Just to be fair Kwame ended up as a solid time player but I get your point. I think Bennett is the worst #1 pick of all time. Also that draft is just weird I would take pick 10-20 over 1-9 any day of the week in that draft and that is super rare

I'm reading "Boys Among Men", and it discusses that draft and era of the NBA a lot.

Kwame Brown was put in a very tough spot.

I just started that book yesterday, not far in just finished the second chapter on KG. Does it continue to be a good read

So far, I dig it. It's an easy, breezy read and I dig all the behind-the-scenes NBA stuff.

To be fair, I'm maybe halfway through? My summers get crazy busy so my reading has stopped.

Thanks for mentioning this book guys. I'll have to check that one out sometime.

Some excellent videos today.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3Jk-Rlelnk (Karl's dad interviewed, very impressive, KAT might be hardest worker in the NBA)

Just finished watching the ROR press conference. I wasn't surprised, but I was still blown away by KAT's demeanor as well as his humility and intellect. He is unbelievably impressive as a person. Flip left Timberwolves fans with a wonderful gift in Karl Anthony Towns.

Speaking of KAT's dad, he went to a lot of games at Target Center and sat near me just across the isle and one row back. Some people told me at the time that he was KAT's dad, but I wasn't sure until I saw him at today's press conference. He sounds like a drill Sargent. We could hear him barking not just at his son but also at other Wolves players when they made mistakes, especially when he thought they weren't getting back on defense. Wiggins' sister also sat in the same area and was at nearly every home game. She's quiet, gut very attentive.

We have a great core with both talent and character.

As a fellow Dominican, I couldn't be happier for KAT and I'm happy to say he's on my team.

We hit jackpot with him

Well deserved unanimous vote ROY win by towns. He is also the only player on the team that is unanimously praised and like by every single poster here. Great to have him.

Anthony Bennett scored double digits in the NBA a total of 13 times (if I counted correctly) and scored over 20 just once. He also may never play another game in the NBA. I would say that certainly qualifies as biggest bust ever.

I really like that Winslow kid. Dude plays the game balls-out, especially defensively and on hustle plays.
