The anti-Wolves bias in the league is so clear...not one vote for Tyus or Belly!

Unanimous even! You know there were some coastal voters writing KAT in 1st only begrudgingly, afraid of being "that guy" when they so badly wanted to vote for their guy.

I usually don't get that riled up about these type of individual awards but if Tows wasn't the uninimois winner I would have been incredulous.

I can't get over how good that guy is. I'm excited for Wiggins too, but Towns is just on another level IMO. Dude is so good.

Out of curiosity, I was just checking the history of #1 picks.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_first_overall_NBA_draft_picks

A couple takeaways:
1) It's nice to pick first! Look how many of those guys ended up all-stars or hall of famers.
2) Still, it's no guarantee you'll get an All-Star of a HOFer.
3) Sometimes, those picks SUCK (paging Kwame Brown and Anthony Bennett). It's not their fault they were picked first, but yeesh.
4) Shaq was a freakin' monster from the get-go. 23 and 14? As a rookie?! Da-ya-um. Boy, Blake had a great rookie year too. I forgot that.

Just to be fair Kwame ended up as a solid time player but I get your point. I think Bennett is the worst #1 pick of all time. Also that draft is just weird I would take pick 10-20 over 1-9 any day of the week in that draft and that is super rare

I'm reading "Boys Among Men", and it discusses that draft and era of the NBA a lot.

Kwame Brown was put in a very tough spot.

Never read it, but I know Jordan was an major A-hole to Kwame. And it's never these kids' fault that they were drafted where they were. It's crazy to think they are all basically just a little older than kids when drafted. Kwame was a serviceable center for years, you're right. Nothing to write home about, but if he were drafted in the late first round, people would probably have said he had a pretty good, solid career. Sadly, even if Bennett were a second rounder, nobody would say that. Of course, people would have said the same for Hassan Whiteside before last season too. I'd be surprised if that happened to Bennett (it's rare for a guy to flame out and then come back as a good player), but it's a reminder of how crazy life can be.
