Wolves best draft pick in the last 5 years
Re: Wolves best draft pick in the last 5 years
Ya I was meaning to make the poll who is just the best player, no matter where they were drafted

Doesn't the SP stand for Shitty Pick?
Would have, could have, didn't.

The Wolves now have the worst record in the West and just need one more loss to tie Detroit at 3-10.
TheSP next season could end up being as shitty as the others as it's going we could get a top 4 SP again.

Fun Timberwolves fact of the day:
Towns leads the team in WinShares... even though he's only played in 4 of the 12 games.

I've been as disappointed in Edwards the past few games as most of you, but to me he is the easy answer to this poll. I don't see anyone else on that list even close to him. I guess if I had to pick someone to be 2nd on the list I would go with Culver, because I liked his game better than anyone other than Edwards in college and I have been quite impressed with his rebounding and team defense. But man, his shooting has been terrible.
I note that this team is still 2-2 with Towns playing, so I still see some hope for this roster despite the terrible record without him. But now I want to get compensated for the Towns-less agony we are going through, and I wonder if Covid could be our solution. I continue to think it's not viable to have a real NBA season until players can be vaccinated...it's only going to get worse out there... and my current hope is that the season is called off while we still have a decent chance of getting a top 3 pick. Yes, I can hear the chorus of "we'd just screw up the pick anyway", but I'm not going to play that game. Next year's draft is loaded and with this year a disaster, we need to be part of that draft. I can say "stay safe" to you guys and my family and friends, but I also know that NBA players are largely incapable of doing the smart things we all have been doing and that it's impossible to "socially distance" on a basketball court. So my expectation is that Covid is going to ravage the league in the next few weeks, and my hope is that they decide to call off the season. Cynical? Yes. But also practical.

I voted Edwards as well only because he is more of an unknown as his future. But I can see how others could vote another way based on value for the draft position. Though none of those guys are considered high quality picks either. Though most draft picks outside the top 5-10 it's pretty rare to hit a homer.
Edwards stated his goal was to ROY, if so he better start picking up his game. Because he's a longshot now.

Ya, I think Edwards can easily become the best player, I mean look at that list every player is probably an end of the rotation guy, a benchwarmer or out of the league. At the moment now though Edwards is a massive negative. He is shooting 37.2% on 13 shots per game, 27.7% from 3 on 7.6 attempts per game. He is not good off the ball, he has been meh at defense and meh at best at rebounding. Obviously he is young and he shows flashes with his scoring and passing what get you really excited and I really hope he lives up to that potential but at the moment Edwards is a massive net negative, while guys like Okogie and Dunn are end of the rotation guy but at least they have an NBA skill on defense at this moment Edwards has no for sure NBA skill.
Re: Wolves best draft pick in the last 5 years
I voted Okogie because I think he is a very solid and worthwhile player where he was picked. I think he is also the best player of that group. For all we know the best player (Especially where he was picked) might actually be Nowell. Has he been hurt again or just not playing?

I don't know if it comes down to continually drafting the wrong player. I think we just suck at player development.

....but it's not like Derrick Williams, Wes Johnson, Jonny Flynn, Kris Dunn, and Justin Patton went on to be even better at their next franchises.
I wouldn't say they are good at player development (especially shooting), but the bigger portion of blame goes to their drafting.
