At most, he misses 5 games, and more likely less than that as more Wolves' games get canceled. And 10 days more healing for his wrist can't be bad.
And really- were we going to win any games the next 10 days anyway without Juancho  ?
I was looking forward to our lineup and rotations without Juancho or Layman! Oh well.
I've come to the conclusion that the only break the Wolves will ever catch involves a player's bones.
It amazes me after all these years how you can still predict the Wolves typical draft position with the formula (total number of super star players + 1). Then every time they're lucky enough to draft in the top 2 (minus the KAT year) it is when there is literally no sure fire super star players at the top of a weak draft. You couldn't write a movie about the Wolves because it would be harder to believe than the most outlandish SciFi movie!
Edit: Speaking of SciFi, I'm going to use my now unscheduled game time to watch a Star Trek movie for the millionth time!
I am going for another dose of Stargate Universe and Battlestar Galactica.

Those are always winners, unlike that other pass time we share!
Feel bad for KAT. Most people don't need to worry about this virus, unfortunately that's not the case for him. Fuck you China, this crap took my brother in law too.
KAT should be OK given his age and underlying health. On the other hand, you never know for sure with this disease. I hope he makes a full recovery and I hope he doesn't have any of the residual heart issues that have afflicted even young and healthy victims of this disease. The odds are definitely with him and so are all of us in the Timberwolves community.
I can't help wondering how NBA players are catching this disease. Players and coaches are tested repeatedly. That means their work environment should be extremely safe. They're in a position where they can have anything they want delivered to them safely without the need to venture out to grocery stores or public buildings of any kind. I understand that it's impossible to remain 100% safe unless you and your family members never leave your home or allow anyone else in it - which is pretty much what may wife and I have been doing. But NBA players should be really close to 100% safe unless they don't all follow existing Covid guidelines. The problem, of course, is that it's unlikely all players follow those guidelines. I suspect that KAT has adhered to those guidelines completely given what he's been through with his family. He likely got the virus from another player -- maybe one of his own teammates -- someone who didn't strictly follow those guidelines. We all know what James Harden was doing just before the season started.
I'm just rambling a bit. This virus is horrible. It's destroying lives and livelihoods. It's isolating us from one another and I think it's contributing to the divisions and anger we've been seeing this past year and more recently at the U.S. Capitol. The only remedy is a vaccine that's rolling out all too slowly. Vaccines have spared us the mass death and disability that past generations endured through other pandemics including small pox and polio. A vaccine will eventually put an end to our current nightmare. I guess we just need to be patient and take great care in the meantime to keep ourselves and those around us safe.
Lipoli, it only takes one careless player to disobey the rules and contract Covid to have it ripple through a roster. We don't know how KAT contracted Covid, but a reasonable following of the dots leads us to a likely suspect. Juancho Hernangomez is portrayed as the root of all the Wolves' woes on this board, but in this case, he very well could be. The team announces that Juancho will be sidelined for 10 days (i.e. he has Covid) and Ricky is out for health reasons (i.e. he has tested negatve, but has been in close contact with Juancho). 36 hours later KAT reports that he has Covid. I guess we should have seen this coming. KAT has been on the court in close contact with Juancho for several minutes the past few games, sweat and spit flying off their bodies. To me the question isn't how are NBA players contracting Covid; rather, it's why aren't more players contracting Covid. It just takes one player to break the rules, and dozens of other players are at risk through close, sweaty, non-masked contact. Unless the vaccine gets down to the NBA player level soon, I suspect canceled games will become more frequent.
So yes, I wish KAT and Juancho a quick recovery, and hope that as a country we can do a much better job of rolling out this vaccine. It's more dangerous out there than ever.
I mean, what more could happen to KAT and this franchise!? Just incredibly terrible news. And we can't assume he will have a full recovery and come back as the player he was before. This virus is very bizarre in the variability in which affects people. Yes, he will most likely be fine by normal human standards, but how do we know there won't be lingering effects that only show themselves when trying to play at the highest level of sports? This is what could be affecting Rubio's play.
Let's face it - this season is lost for the Wolves. Between injuries, the virus, and poor decisions by Rosas this team is going to just keep on losing the majority of its games.
I guess my hope is that somehow out of the ruins of this season, we see a couple of our young guys step up and show meaningful improvement.
Frankly I'm quite surprised the NBA has had so few games canceled this year. Think about it-it's hard to think of a sport where there are so many bodily fluids being thrown into the air and inhaled by 10 individuals in such close quarters. The only reason there have been so few cases to date is because by and large NBA players are surprisingly following the guidelines. But Trent Tucker said on KFAN this morning you can't expect that to continue. Players have violated the rules in some instances, and they are going to go out to dinner and bars when they're on the road, and if they do, they are likely to contract the virus and infect their teammates and opponents. If a vaccine isn't made widely available to all NBA players in the next couple weeks, I predict that the season will be canceled, or at least postponed indefinitely. Hmm...maybe not such a disastrous outcome for our fighting Wolves.

FNG - I agree with you. Because I'm among those consistently hammering Juancho for his play, I didn't want to post my thoughts about him as the source of KAT's positive test. It is surprising that more players aren't contracting the disease. In that regard, I credit the League for its rigid protocols and the vast majority of players for faithfully following those protocols. But as you said, it only takes one. And in the Wolves case, I suspect that one was J-Hollywood.
