Until this year Wiggins has been the best likely option at his position so it's been hard for coaches to bench him even if they wanted to (all respect to those out there that really like Josh). Maybe Culver shakes up that dynamic a bit and we finally see Wiggins' minutes go down below the astronomical highs they were at. This is certainly the benefit of having a load of wings.

Still waiting for someone to take me bet regarding Wiggins averaging > than 21.4 pts/game come Dec. 10th. I'm taking the over.

Wiggins was just playing possum for 5 years. This is the year he really steps up as our #2.

That's easy money on the under.

Agreed. This team is so bad at finding and developing wings that after 5+ seasons, Wiggins is still a guy we kind of have to play. I was really hoping Okogie could start cutting into his minutes, but as usual, we see little to no improvement from wings we draft.

He's basically holding the team hostage... Again. Until the Wiggins situation is resolved, he's the story. It's unprecedented in NBA history for somebody THAT bad to be paid THAT much. And sadly, it could become for THAT long.
You can be upset about the threads. But he remains the most compelling thing about this time right now. Or 2nd most. The KAT out of the bag angle has legs, too.
I mean it's not like we keep running you over while reminding you that you were the last holdout on the Wiggins Hopewagon.

No he wasn't the latest holdout that was me. Jeez get it right. Andre Wiggins is driving the hopewagon now. I'm following A ways behind in a brown rusty Chevy Chevette dodging potholes....damn there are a lot of potholes on Wiggins trail...
To be fair Wiggins saying he is better than 100 NBA players will bring about some posts...especially if his play in preseason has been underwhelming...which it has. And like Abe has said...it really sucks.

To say that Wiggins play this preseason has been "underwhelming" is the understatement of the year. :). Seriously, he's been terrible. He lit it up tonight, hitting 4 of 18 shots. But at least he dominated the boards with 2 rebounds. I think he had an assist. In the home game Sunday night, he treated us to some vintage Wiggins ball-watching as he watched an opposing player line up a corner three without bothering to even take one step towards him even though, with his length and athleticism, Wiggins could have potentially blocked or altered the shot.
Ryan can shower Wiggins with all the love in the world and it won't make a difference. Wiggins will remain what he's always been - defiantly so. Meanwhile, we can watch Zach LaVine continue to fill up the box score game after game with 20+ points along with multiple rebounds and assists. Such is the fate of a Timberwolves fan.

I wonder what the personal issue was that the author mentioned? Sounds mysterious.
Ryan reminds me so much of Flip in the things he says. Not sure it will ever translate to the court, but no one could say we didn't try the player friendly approach with our head coach.
That player-friendly approach goes all the way up to Rosas. I've never seen a franchise -- especially this franchise -- go so above and beyond in trying to create a family-like atmosphere. The three day vacation to the Bahamas was nuts. While all of that has value, to the extent of which is unknown, but I feel like ownership/management potentially sacrificed higher talent for getting "good guys" in all vacant positions this off-season.
We'll see if any of that means anything on the court, but premium talent doesn't always come with a likable personality. And in the business of winning basketball games I want the best collection of talent that can be assembled.
I've always said give me the really good player who's an asshole over the really nice guy who isn't very good because inevitably I'll be booing the nice guys.

Lip Wiggins is playing like this in preseason games to add more fuel to the fire of the people that doubt him. Genius.
The reality of Wiggins and the Wolves is...they were and are stuck with him and I'm sure Ryan does believe in him and Rosas probably felt it was worth a shot at building him because...well how much worse is Wiggins going to get? They are trying everything to make this work. Wiggins is maddening but I do think some of his problems are confidence...and some of his problem is also that he thinks too highly of himself. If this doesn't work out (looking bad right now) it will be up to the magical problem solver Gupta to find some creative way to move on from Wiggins. Based on this preseason that theoretical Batum deal Abe has been championing looks...kinda sexy. Lol
