You're absolutely right, and I've been a big advocate for moving him to the bench, but the one thing that I can say for Gorgui is that he brings maximum (or near maximum) effort every game. My biggest concern with Andrew is that we rarely see maximum effort from him. I know it's a subjective thing, but you can tell when a guy is putting out and when a guy is holding back or playing lackadaisical -- the latter suits him accurately, unfortunately. At least one teammate has taken notice. I would not be surprised if others have as well.

If he's giving maximum effort and Gortat is perfect from the field hes got awareness problems that shouldn't make him call anyone out.

I'm not a huge fan of going to the media with perceived problems with another player. That's just my philosophy of team.

Well, yes, but the bigger problem is that Dieng shouldn't be matched up on players of Gortat's caliber anyway. I think we can agree there.

And I didn't see this as a malicious shot towards Wiggins. I believe this was after his really good game the other night. Dieng basically said that the team needs that version of him more often and that the team needs to help him out more than they have. Both are fair points and as an older, more experienced guy on a team that lacks leadership, I'm more than OKAY with what he said.

To me he said we are here for our teammate but we need him to give more. That's coming from a guy that tries hard and sacrifices a lot for the team and been here as long as anyone except Rubio it seems fine. Who wouldn't want more of the good Wiggins every night?

Cams' bang on. In an ideal world Dieng would be your first big off the bench with the ability to cover the front court if injury arose.

I think Dieng was just trying to light the fire in Wiggins, but the problem is I don't think Wiggins has the fuel to keep the fire going.

Charges taken by Wiggins in his career = 1
Charges taken by Gorgui this season = 11

'Nuff said.

Of course you're more than ok with it. You called Wiggins a pussy behind a computer. This is a no no from a pro team perspective, especially from someone who should be a second unit guy. But this season is going to shit so why not have G speak up when microphones are around.

Well said, Cam.

It's amazing how defensive some people get when they see any criticism of Wiggins. But Wiggins' inconsistent motor isn't a state secret. He had that reputation coming out of college and that same tendency of his has been pretty obvious during his 2.5 seasons thus far in the NBA. I recall Milt Newton talking about how Flip had to call out Andrew for lack of effort in practice, Milt referred to Flip using language you'd rarely hear from Flip as he went after Andrew for his lack of effort. So the problem has been there and if Wiggins is going to be a top 10 player in this League as Flip told me he could be, then Andrew has to fix his motor problem.

I've gone to nearly ever home game since Andrew's been here and it's really frustrating to watch such a talented player jog back on defense while showing little off-ball movement on offense. I remember a friend of mine going nuts at the game when he saw Wiggins standing at the three-point line with his hands on his hips while KAT was doubteamed in the post and desperately looking for an open guy to pass to. No, this doesn't happen all the time, but it happens far too often. So given that fans like me who attend a lot of games get frustrated with Wiggins' inconsistent effort, it's not surprising that his teammates would get frustrated too -- even more so. I like that Gorgui spoke out. He did it in a respectful way - picking a time right after Wiggins had a relatively good game rather than kicking Andrew when down after a bad game.

Now I want to see Wiggins sprint back and forth on every possession the way Bazz and Zach do. I want to see Wiggins move aggressively without the ball at least half as well as Zach. I want to see him play tight on the guy he's defending and fight through screens like he's fighting for his life. I want to see him, at 6'8 with a 40+ inch vertical pull down substantially more than 4 boards a game. I want to see him him hit more than 70-75% of free throws (it's a concentration/intensity issue). I want to see him block some shots and get some steals -- maybe even take a charge every now and then. If he played with the drive and intensity of Ricky or Bazz, he'd be an all-star.
