Updating his 3rd year numbers and also added in RPM:

Year - PER/WS48/TS%/Net Rating/RPM
Rookie - 11.2/.027/.450/-10.0/-3.59
2nd Yr - 13.8/.096/.523/+2.5/-.23
3rd Yr - 14.2/.128/.593/+3.3/1.44

The trajectory keeps getting better as the season progresses. By the way, his RPM is 14th in the league among point guards. Now I by no means believe he is among the 14 best PGs in the league given his limited role as a backup, but pretty much every metric is trending in the right direction.

...still not sure why we don't see more Jones/Teague combinations out there. Thibs doesn't seem to realize that most opposing teams don't give a shit about the fact one of our wings can post up one of their wings. If we're taking mid-range turnarounds, they're OK with that!

We need to get our best players on the floor PERIOD and stop worrying so much about the fact someone might be a little taller than one of our guards.

I would like to see Tyus and Teague play more. The problem is Thibs basically has Crawford who is a super sized combo guard he can deploy at any time and he doesn't play him a whole lot either. You can certainly make a case that at times Tyus should play minutes that Crawford plays like the Dallas game for sure. If Tyus keeps playing well he is gonna get playing time. Thibs tends to stick with his rotations. He will mix things up at times, but he seems to go more with consistency. other coaches mix things up alot. I can see the value either way. Tyus showing real improvement is a nice factor for this team going forward.

After last night's game, Tyus now leads the team in net rating. I'm still not ready to declare him equal to or better than Teague, but the sample size keeps getting bigger. The key difference between the two is Teague can create a shot out of a broken play (witness the crazy scoop shot he made against Denver with the shot clock winding down) and I'm not sure Tyus can do this yet. But man, on the other stuff - defense, ball movement, protecting the rock - Tyus seems to be a better fit with our other players. As long as he has shot creators around him, he will be fine.

With Butler and Wiggins, tyus doesn't really need to be able to create a shot of a broken play. Teagues ability to create a shot would be much more useful with the bench guys.

Tyus doesn't need to start (even though I think he should), but thibs should maybe get him more minutes with the starters.

With tyus, Butler, and wiggins up front, wee actually help Kat to become a better defensive player. There are less quick blowbys and better defensive communication.

Interesting point about Tyus helping KAT defensively. It echos comments Jim Peterson has made - that a big part of KAT's defensive problems have stemmed from poor perimeter defense and that Tyus has been great defensively this season.

Is Teague on a two year contract? That would be nice to see Tyus grab that starting job next season and make Teague expendable.

Teague is still a lot better than Jones, and that's not meant as a jab towards Jones because he's been awesome this year. I think we need to pump the brakes on the "start Tyus Jones, get rid of Jeff Teague" debate that I can see in the works.
