The Pats did a great job of getting a spectacular return for Ryan Mallet. Lol

U really had to dig deep for that one.
Fact is they've gathered draft picks while letting go of still valuable players . And more often than not they came out aces .on the
Who's Mallet playing for these days? Last I heard he was cut by Houston . The team with the worst quarterback situation in the league
Unless you've heard different.
Just checked... The Pats got a conditional 6th or 7th round pick in the 2016 draft for Mallet. Houston released Mallet a few weeks into the season cuz he's a POS .
Damn Pork Chop that's a low blow to Houston after T.J. Yates just beat Cincinnati. In regards to K. Martin who's paying a 1st? I realize teams do crazy things for shooting but his value is probably more towards the trade deadline when teams suffer injury or are in more desperation for shooting.
I am perfectly content with Martin getting a heat check off the bench each night once in the 1st half and once in the 2nd half, if he plays well ride the hot stroke otherwise back to the bench.

I didn't have to dig deep for that at all and I hope you know I was cherry picking there for a laugh. Part of that was some national media person a couple years ago was convinced Mallet was by far the best backup in the league and all the QB poor teams including the Vikings should trade for him. I was pretty skeptical. It's funny that a guy picked well after him in the same draft Yates ended up finding more worth to an NFL team than Mallet so that's part of why I like to add that dig.
Sure if Martin is gonna leave after this year than sure get some random 2nd rounder for him or whatever the best offer is. He is on my list of most likely to be traded on this team next to Rudez who is just a cheap contract guy that play some too. At this point I don't see anyone else getting moved other than those 2 guys because it doesn't look like this team is gonna go down in flames of terribleness that would make the other vets desparate to leave.
The bottom line is that part of the vision Flip had was having guys that wanted to be here. If a guy wants to be here they aren't gonna look to move them obviously. If a guy wants out...they will find a way and one that in some way shape or form benefits both the organization and the player...if they follow what Flip has done in the past and Milt seems like that type of dude and let's be honest he probably did plenty of working the phones last year while Flip was coaching.
Also Mallet got cut because he sucks and was late to practice and a team flight and had to get his own flight to get to the game. It was reported O'Brian wanted to cut him before the game but his coaches calmed him down and said we only have one QB if we cut him. Lol

But to what end? I'll even take a 2nd rounder over a player that wont be here in a year or two. I guess I'm looking more long term and less at what seriously flawed old guys can give us now.. And I say that as a huge KG defender. But he holds no value other than what he can give us for 15 mins a game.
#1. Martin is in a slump, but he's still the guy that can stop an opponents scoring streak. He's a oro that knows how to score.
#2. He's the best career 3 pt. guy we have and we need players that can shoot 3's.
#3. 10 days ago this board wanted to dump Lavine, then Rubio, now Martin. My nuts are sore. Let's see how well these guys can play together.

What playoff team will have cap space or TPE to just absorb Martin? It's likely the Wolves would have to bring some other type of contract back in a trade. That could mean a higher price in return depending on the deal or maybe a guy that's useful to the Wolves idk.

I'm with you Pork Chop, I am a Martin hater but looking at his current production and how early it is in the year its just not the right time to sell in my opinion. Honestly with his age and price tag he might not even be sell able. Can you believe Sam had the stones to put him in a small ball lineup in crunch time? What a fool!

Dump Lavine and Rubio? Who's calling for those moves? Lavine is the 3rd strongest asset on the team, the type of talent you watch grow on your team not on someone else's. Rubio getting dumped, the only deal I have ever mentioned was a long while back when Rondo was on Boston I thought that would have been a good swap for the Wolves. Rubio haters are going to be out there with his injury history and lack of a jump shot but when you say dump him that leaves the impression of getting nothing in return or ridding the team of the salary and moving on. I doubt even the haters would just outright dump him.
