The vets seem to be bought in at this point. Nobody expected the way they have been used at this point except KG and I haven't heard any complaints. Martin can be a useful player I don't think we HAVE to deal him. We will see how things shake out down the road I am open to moving him.
Re: We need to get rid of Kevin Martin with Zach's upswing
They certainly don't "Need" to move Martin. I would be all for doing so if they could get a legit backup 1 or one of those mythical 3&D wings. Of course what playoff team has an excess of either that they would swap for Martin's scoring?
My guess is Martin gets moved at the deadline for the best deal they can get, and it won't be much, certainly less than he could offer the Wolves if they keep him.

I mentioned this in another thread but I'll mention it again; I think the Wolves would be wise to take a page out of the Patriots book and deal the guy while he still has value and get a younger guy or pick that will serve this team well down the road. Martin will be a zero positive a year or two from now and he's not gonna help this team be a contender this year. Get what you can get and don't have a fit.

What do you think a playoff team would give up for Martin? My guess is at most a 2nd, if they're lucky a very late 1st, with almost no chance for a quality young player coming back instead. If I'm correct and we're looking at a 2nd round pick then the NFL analogy falls flat given the rarity of them ever making an impact.
Twelve games into the season and I'm believing this team is legitimately competitive! There is an outside chance they could challenge for the 8th position in which case Martin as a bench scorer (this forums prefered role for him) is money in the bank in comparison to to a deep bench player or 2nd round pick. I think the time to trade him for value was last season, maybe the year before though his contract length was a barrier to getting any deal done then.

Martin for Courtney Lee just makes too much sense for both teams.

I don't think the market for KMart is all that high given his age and lack of defense I don't think Memphis trades Lee for KMart as Lee is younger and a better defender. If we can't get a legit player in return, we might as well keep him.

Oh wow, we have a lot of Courtney Lee fans here too!

Just wait till later in the season when other teams are dying to add that guy...Martin will have value. What will the Wolves be offered for him? Idk it may actually be worthwhile. We might also want to keep him for our own run or...maybe he sees this as a place he can grow old and be a part of a young contender team like Flip probably tried to sell him on the past few months and from all I know at this point he seems to have bought into it. It's not the craziest possibility even though I don't think it would happen.

What's more valuable? A late 1st round pick or a washed up Kevin Martin 5 years from now? Wether that pics with the team or not no one can possibly know. What is a guarantee is Martin not being a valuable asset .. instant gratification or long term depth?
Heck, He's not a big part of the games being won now!
