Would dig McHale on the tv. I contend that was the best gig for him...
But Jim Peterson has improved SOOO MUCH over the past few years. He's become pretty damn good himself.
Put Barkley and McHale in a room with someone throwing out a couple topics I would actually pay money to watch that.

Did you ever watch that show on NBATV that was essentially just that?
Just a bunch of ex NBA guys in a room sharing stories. I loved the ones that had Shaq, Barkley, Webber, et al... and Steve Kerr. Probably a repeat story... but when they were sharing their favorite foods and Kerr chimed in with "sushi" it was brilliant comedy/reality.

I would be interested in him being in the front office but I don't know if he is interested in that or he only really wants to coach now. It's gonna be interesting. I wouldn't be shocked Glen will reach out to him at some point to see what McHale would be interested in doing next if they have any type of good relationship still.
I'm gonna pass on McHale having anything to do with this franchise. It'd kind of be a slap in the face to the Flip era to replace it with McHale after McHale was the one who ran him out of town the first time around. He failed in MN without Flip and just got canned in Houston coaching one of the most stacked rosters in the league to a poor record. I'll just pass on him.

Thank you. This would be the worst parting gift possible from Taylor.

While I won't argue that McHale would be an awkward hire in many ways here... I don't think we should be quick to dismiss what he did in Houston over 11 games with his 3 healthy guards/wings playing so poorly as the team dealt with other injuries on a game-by-game basis.
I don't think Houston was the choice to land the #2 seed or make the WCF last season... especially with Dwight missing 41 games, Beverley missing 26 games and Terrence Jones missing 49 games. Ironically, those have been the three key injuries again this season...
[Note: For all the crap Rubio gets... I gotta imagine the Rockets boards light up Terrence Jones for his rash of odd injuries. He just got back from 5 games out with an eye gouge when he's spotted wearing a cast.]
I want no part of McHale back here, but I do have to say a 4-7 record is not the end of the world. There must be something else going on with Morey and McHale. The real downside I see with this firing is that it opens up another intriguing destination for a top-notch coach.

I don't think it has much to do with Morey and McHale... and everything to do with McHale and his stars on that team.

You can't fire the players.
But doesn't 4-7 seem like a bit of an overreaction?
