I don't know his relationship with sam but I would love him as an assistant coach (not sure he would take it. Imo he is one of the most underrated in the business

No way his ego allows him to take a position of less than head coach or GM, no way. It's time for Kevin to spend more with his family and fishing rods, he's earned it!

Nor should it in that case.

I'd argue he's a bit more prestigious of a head coach than Sam Mitchell is.

I don't know what level of respect McHale has for the guys at the top of the Wolves organization right now (Milt and Sam) plus other guys you don't hear about but he has the personna this franchise is missing. I would be interested in him being in the front office but I don't know if he is interested in that or he only really wants to coach now. It's gonna be interesting. I wouldn't be shocked Glen will reach out to him at some point to see what McHale would be interested in doing next if they have any type of good relationship still.

Cam's guy JB Birkerstaff takes over in Houston.

Yeah, I don't know if McHale coaches here... or would be a candidate for a role closer to what Flip had.

I also hesitate on whether that's a good idea or not. Every GM is a mixed bag. And McHale wasn't on Kahn's level... but he wasn't highly regarded for a huge chunk of his stay here either.

I said at the time he was hired in Houston, that I thought it was a good fit. Mchale just seemed to have a way of criticizing without demeaning the player, which works well with veterans. I think that job has become a nightmare due to the constant roster shuffling though. Dwight isnt' easy to coach, and with Harden's iso game it can be difficult to scheme. When they lost Parsons and now picked up Lawson I figured it might be too much. That team is going to self destruct over the next five months. They may put together a short stretch out of the gate, but I don't see Lawson fitting in down there.

As much as I like Mchale as a coach, I don't want him anywhere near our front office. Glen has been pretty open that Mchale isn't good about the details.

I don't think McHale has to be detailed he can be just a basketball guy and the one people go to for info. McHale is very entertaining and he is a very good basketball mind. I think the Wolves potentially have the right people in place to work well with McHale. Hell he just got done dealing with stats guru Morey he probably won't mind some input and may have learned a thing or 2 himself which he has said. If he was in the front office the looming question would always be whether or not he ends up taking over and becomes coach again. That's both a good (because He can coach) and bad thing because we don't need the cloud of change hovering over everything.

Take him full circle, color guy for television broadcasts! He's a good guy and great story teller, but I don't want him having any authority over personnel!

Would dig McHale on the tv. I contend that was the best gig for him...

But Jim Peterson has improved SOOO MUCH over the past few years. He's become pretty damn good himself.
