I think there is a difference between guys being tough and guys that are injury prone or have bodies that just heal themselves faster or something. Emmit Smith seemed to play through everything it seemed like every other week he was supposed to miss a game but when it was game time he was out there running for TDs.
I really don't question Pek or Rubio's toughness. I question their bodies. Not everyone is created equal in this regard. Some of it is probably bad luck for injury prone guys but some has to be the body, muscles and tendons etc that just aren't built for what these elite athletes ask them to do night in and night out. Some guys I don't think are tough. Some guys don't put in the work you need to stay healthy. I don't think that's either Pek or Rubio or a number of other guys. I'll admit bias for these guys because I like watching them on the floor and they seem like good guys. It's really frustrating though that they can't stay on the floor. Pek is a guy that we can live with not being on the floor at this point of the franchise. If Rubio can't stay healthy it's a fairly big setback because we have to find or hope someone else can step up and be the guy at that spot.
The good news is that there are 2 guys with some potential on this team be that guy if Rubio isn't able to be the PG for this team going forward. Lavine to me could maybe be a scoring PG. I would rather see him at SG but I do think it's is possible he could end up being successful at PG. I believe Tyus could be a starting PG in this league. Some people don't that's fine I do. KAT has shown he may be the type of defensive center that can cover up for one weak defender but I have some hope for Tyus on that end too. Ultimately I am ready to see how this all plays out.
