The real reason Flip drafted Tyus
The real reason Flip drafted Tyus
PorkChop--Sugar coat it however you want to. How bout he's prone to missing games becuz of injuries.. Is that better? All I know is you're only as good as your ability to stay on the floor
I actually agree with Pork and I am a huge Rubio groupie. But he is missing almost as many games as he is playing. We are beyond a couple of injuries here. Like Pek, we can not depend on him to be in the line up.
I think the reason Flip let Cedi Osman go for an undersized PG with no defense is he knew he couldn't depend on Ricky and had to address it.

I think Flip just had a man crush on Tyus. Plus he needed to address the backup spot at some point.

now all's the Wolves have to do is worry about the starting point guard
Re: The real reason Flip drafted Tyus
Better hurry. His next season ending injury is due anytime
Re: The real reason Flip drafted Tyus
Name the Wolves PG with the most career starts. It's brutal guys either can't stay healthy or they leave to go on to do better things or basically move on because they aren't happy. It's silly to assume that the trend will continue but it has for over 20 years. It sucks.
Going into this last offseason the wolves had 3 spot to look at improving. Overall talent, PF and a backup plan at PG. Towns added talent and was the answer at C and Tyus was the guy they went with for the PG spot. Bjelica looks like he might be the answer at PF. Tyus might not work out but it made all the sense in the world to add a guy and I LOVE Rubio.
It would be nice to say something positive about Rubio's game without being labeled a super homer with ridiculous expectations of the guy. I like him he plays for my team I like what he brings to the table despite his flaws. He made a funny joke about Zach Lowe not having an iPhone. I like being positive about guys. I get it some people have made up their mind ok him that's fine. I'be been there with a few guys too and plenty negative on them (Mayo is one) but it gets old when you can't say anything positive about a guy without snide remarks. I take a lot of the posts about Rubio in good fun or ignore them but it does get old at times.

Re: The real reason Flip drafted Tyus
I am not worried about Rubio. I think they are playing it safe with him since he has reinjured his hamstring. I bet he doesn't play tonight either. They are in middle of 5 games in 7 days. I will be concerned if we don't see him back by Tuesday.
I am concerned we reached on Tyus Jones. He doesn't seem like a guy that will be a spot starter in these league. Time will tell though. It is very hard to judge him on the minutes he has played so far. Based on history we should have added someone that could give us more minutes and if this injury with Rubio extends I think it would be wise to dump Rudez and look for a backup. I would have Luke Ridnour on speed dial.

Re: The real reason Flip drafted Tyus
Ricky was listed as probable the past three games and didn't play. He is now listed as questionable for the Memphis game tomorrow. That's a downgrade, boys...he's getting worse. Does anyone think he is really going to play tomorrow.
Almost a week ago, his injury was described as a "mild hamstring strain". Really, missing a week with that?
I have been a defender of Ricky, because he only missed time before this season due to 2 terrible injuries. But missing a week (at least) with a "mild hamstring strain" has me now questioning his toughness. I am really frustrated. 4-2 with Ricky playing, 0-3 with him not...we need him on the court.
Someone needs to post a poll asking who is going to play more games this year, Pek or Rubio. I know Ricky has a 6-game head start, but I think I might have to vote for Pek at this point. :furious:

Throw in KG for the three horse race. Right now the old man is leading the pack!
