Remember a healthy Embid had a very good chance of going ahead of Wiggins last year. Just as a demonstration that size has its own premium.

The more I think about it the more interesting this is.

Ok assuming everything else is the same and Wiggins is coming out of college and the Wolves roster is the way it is right now without Wiggins here (I know it's not a fair hypothetical but thisbthread is hypotgetical) then these are some thoughts.

Last year Wiggins might not have even gone #1 if Embiid was healthy. I think the Cavs may even have overlooked the back issue if the foot problem wouldn't have come up. They likely had an inkling they had a shot at Lebron and a center like Embiid would have been perfect. Amazingly they ended up picking up their likely starting center for the next few years in Mosgov in what was a terrific trade with Denver. That doesn't mean Wiggins wasn't valued its just that Embiid was thought of very highly and was a heck of a prospect. In addition there were people out there that liked Parker better than Wiggins.

So the Wolves have a pretty big hole at PF and center right now and they have Bazz Lavine and Martin at wings plus Bud. That's some legit talent there. Does Flip go for a terrific 2 way perimeter player that has questions about his drive or a stud big man?

What can you get later in the draft this year? Is there a big or wing player you think you can get later in the draft to plug a whole or at least give you a shot at it? Maybe you feel like you have a couple good value guys you can get later at the opposite position big vs wing. Compare that to the current roster right now wing players are basically the last thing this team needs to look for. That's pretty amazing considering for a while Brewer was probably the most effective wing player this team had for like 10 years. Yeah it was seriously that bad.

Towns would probably still go one, but Wiggins should go one. Bigs get a premium they just shouldn't get anymore with the landscape of the NBA. It's a wing and guard league right now so getting a game changer at either of those positions will have a bigger impact than a big. Mozgov saw a game with only 5 minutes played and Bogut didn't even see the court the last two games in the finals. That just doesn't happen with guards or wings.

There was a lot of posturing last year about who would go #1. But you would never convince me that Wiggins was in danger of not going first. I just don't think there is any validity to that. I read the Embiid rumors to. Let me give you some advice: Don't believe everything you read. Except STOP signs.

Not that we should aspire to be like the knuckleheads at rubechat, but it's interesting that the percentages on the 2 boards for this poll were identical. 76% of both boards thought Wiggins would go #!, with the rest of the votes evenly divided between 2 and 3. Consensus.
