If we could deal Rubio for the #4 pick it would convince me that Jackson is a horrible GM. The Knicks would have to be asking for Lavine too or something like it. But if the Knicks are willing I jump at that trade.

Can anyone make a case for Rubio as a fit for the triangle? Catch and shoot 3 point shooter?

Right, he's the exact opposite of a great fit for the triangle. If they trade for Rubio, they are scrapping the triangle.

Re: Rubio Plays Squash (the trade rumors)
I think the Knicks are in a horrible spot (which I personally love to see). If only the Lakers could have fallen to 5...
Carmelo could quickly become a cancerous type player. He is 31, with high usage and miles on that body. Pair that with one of the worst group of core players that I have seen in a long time, and you have a situation ripe for destruction. They have 3 NBA caliber players in Melo, Calderon and Hardaway. Otherwise, they are stripped bare. They have cap space, but I just don't see the potential for the Knicks capturing game-changing free agents like in decades past. Is there anyone TRULY AVAILABLE, and worth a max deal, that actually wants to play there? Maybe a Deandre Jordan? Dragic? Knight? Lopez? Love? There are some really good FA out there...I just don't see the majority (if any) having an interest in this current situation. Also, many of the best guys (Gasol, LA, etc) just don't seem like NY guys.
Now, add in the fact that they missed out on the top tier talent in the draft, and they are in an awkward spot. While I like guys like Mudiay and Winslow just fine....I think they certainly had high hopes (and expectations) that they would have either Towns or Okafor to pick from. When you need a franchise savior...names like Winslow, Mudiay and Porzingis just don't sound that appetizing.
Thus I believe that they would potentially deal for someone. Whether Rubio is really that guy...or what else it may cost us...I believe the Knicks will be active in shopping that pick.
From a Wolves standpoint, I probably do it. For all his issues with scoring/shooting, he is a floor stabalizer and very solid defender when healthy. With a young team like ours, his value is a bit higher than it should be based on these things. This would probably mean rolling the dice with Mudiay, as we would need a PG of the future.

So take Russell 1 and Okafor at 4? Would Philly try to play spoiler and fleece an asset out of the Wolves to allow Okafor by?
Re: Rubio Plays Squash (the trade rumors)
I am a big rubio fan. But if the knicks are willing to trade the 4th pick for him then we should do it. We probably end up with mudiay and he has a higher ceiling than rubio does. We should draft towns @ 1 then take mudiay at 4. That would be the logical thing to do.

I like that, but the danger is someone trading up in front of you. Philly could get a lot for that pick.
Re: Rubio Plays Squash (the trade rumors)
Do the Knicks have any short term contracts that could be flipped for Pek? Rubio/Pek for #4 and short term garbage adds to the young talent pool and opens a lot of space in the near future.
I know, I know, my homer is showing! :)
