Someone care to enlighten me on what established All-Star is available AND young enough to make it worthwhile?

I meant it as open. Obviously nobody knows who will or won't be available. I think it's safe to assume their very top tier guys like LeBron and Anthony Davis would not be and that's what I meant by "not LeBron great". But maybe Demarcus Cousins type good.

I don't want to be a thread-killer, but I don't think anyone would say Davis is "LeBron great". He's a top 3 player, but he can't be in the same conversation with James. LBJ was included by most of us on their 10 greatest list, and AD was on none of them. Unless you change the wording in the poll, either Davis is in...or someone has to make a case for him being in James' class.

Now, I want to hear those who selected option 1 defend choosing the first pick over Anthony Davis.

Some NBA insiders think Anthony Davis could be the league's best player as soon as next season. (If he improves as much as did in each of his first 3 seasons... it's not that huge of a stretch.)

If you could keep Durant long term and if his medical checks out then absolutely. The problem is he is a free agent after the season is over and will probably move on.

Simple. AD has zero chance of being traded. Option 3 has to have at least a return that is attainable. AD is untouchable just like Lebron.

Always difficult to deal with all the "what ifs" on these things. Abe responded on the comparison. I guess I was thinking of "LeBron type" in the context of the current very top tier guys in the NBA (i.e LeBron, Davis, Harden, Curry, Westbrook). But I realize that's probably a whole other discussion. I probably screwed this up for some people. (Whoops!) Anyway, as I would tell my direct reports "use your best judgement" and run with it! It's all for fun. We still have a few weeks to kill before the draft.

If he signs a new contract and his medical evaluation is perfect, then yes.

I would explore trade options, but ultimately would keep the pick and get the best player. Even if that player is Russell and the need for him isn't as great. We just need to add as many great young players as possible.
