The Professor!

As noted earlier, a lot of these guys sorta seem similar... that's because each has his flaws. So, it becomes more about fit. For example, on the surface, Mo Williams appeared to be a good fit last year. Rubio is a facilitator. Mo Williams is more of a shooter (capable of 50+ point games). So, the dichotomy between the two would seem to work.

But everything changed with Rubio's injury. Personally, I like the idea of a better shooting backup just for that change of pace and some scoring from the second unit.

Unfortunately, if we spend our MLE on Bjelica, then we will not have the money to attract one of the better FA PGs. I am hoping Flip can trade for the vet backup PG...

Still don't think a veteran PG is a necessity. I'd rather draft one who could possibly start one day, and we have Zach who can play there in a pinch,

I guess it all depends on Rubio, right?

The team has $56M invested in him... so he should be the guy for 3/4 of every game. At least that's the conventional thinking. Although I'm pretty sure Rubio's injury is the primary reason behind the clamoring for a quality backup. We've seen what happens if he goes down.

But how much does the team invest in offsetting the worst-case scenario instead of betting on the best-case scenario?

I believe we do also have the bi-annual exception which isn't alot a little over 2million but it may be enough to get someone decent.

I think one thing that would be nice in a back whether they were a scorer or distributor is a guy that's for the most part a calming influence when they are out there. Mo seemed to do that enough for me.

At this point I don't know if we are going to be able to trade up to get a PG in the first round and after that it's gets even more of a crap shoot. I want a young PG option in case Rubio isn't able to stay healthy (been saying that for months and I like Rubio) but all things considered including what is out there for FAs it might not happen this season. Adding a vet PG and picking up a cheap guy out of the D-league or whatever to try and groom to be the next backup or more may be just as good as anything. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I like Cory Joseph a lot, but he's a restricted free agent who I think the Spurs want to keep so I left him off the list.

I wouldn't be against Telfair on this roster. I think he could play mistake free ball and actually his experience wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for these kids to be around.

But he hasn't been a viable option for actual halfway decent play for several years now.

He has nothing to offer at this point.

PF (for obvious reasons), Center (due to Pek's chronic injuries) and PG (due to Rubio's shooting & injuries) are the top three needs. We're going to draft Towns which will fill the holes at Big. I'm with Cool - let's just draft someone for the hole at PG. Package our second rounders and/or Bjelica and move back into round one. If we walk out of this draft with Towns and a 1st round PG - that would be great IMO

I would really like to trade up in the draft and get our backup PG. Grant is the guy I want most.
