True. I was just trying to illustrate the point that it seems to always be "something" that gets in the way of Royce White actually playing basketball. Sometimes, it's him posting an odd youtube clip announcing he's done with the sport... instead of telling his coach about it personally.

It all adds up to only 57 competitive games (college/NBA/D-League) in 5 seasons.

I just don't see why he's worth it at this point. But who knows... comeback and redemption stories are always nice.

I certainly agree he hasn't done himself any favors in that regard. And along those lines, I see your point and agree it adds another layer of difficulty beyond the anxiety. It's a hot mess.

White is a different sort of an example of why having the d-league as a legit minor league system could help both a team foster a worthwhile player and a guy like White to maybe have a better shot of sticking with 1 organization and making it.

The thing is... Houston is one of the few teams to use its d-league in that way. So that appeared to be the plan.

But White initially refused to report there... and missed a ton of games when he finally did because of his anxiety.

Yep but Whiteside turned out so you know like anything can happen right? :)

This comment honestly pisses me off, I work with kids with mental health problems for a living. Royce, can't control anxiety and it must be a massive struggle in life to go through, if it is anything like how anxiety has screwed up some of my clients lives. I understand not wanting him because he might not be able to play in a lot of the games. But to call him soft is bull shit and you come off as an close minded individual.

The thing that makes this comeback shady to me is it happens to lineup with his first contract being up. Drafted in 2012. First round picks get 3 guaranteed years before a team option 4th year. If he really wanted to play the comeback should have already happened, but I'm guessing this one has something to do with not getting paid anymore. Knowing his past and how full of shit he was in Houston for not compromising how they wanted him to play around his disorder and then blaming them for not making everything perfectly how he wanted it makes this come off as an immature individual looking to swindle someone again so he can get another million. He has a legitimate disorder, but I don't see how he's gotten better to the point that playing in the NBA still won't be a problem. This isn't a Whiteside situation where the guy just had to grow up. Even growing up may not be enough for White to still have an NBA career.

I'd be on board with White if we signed him for the vets minimum and were okay if he decided he could only do home games. I'm not convinced he's over his anxiety issues (if you recall he swore up and down to teams that he was okay with traveling via airplane prior to being drafted), but I figure that type of contract would be doable.

So the Wolves would be a top-notch team at home with possibly Garnett and White in the frontcourt.

And that way A. Payne can play 40+ minutes a night in the Away games.

Not saying TheSP is mentally stable, but he's not afraid to fly!

Good point, we could use KG in only away games, White in only home games, and then draft Towns. Then we can let Payne learn from the stands. (yes, I said stands)
