Give Flip his due
Re: Give Flip his due
The Wolves didn't trade a pick for AB because the pick went to Philly and AB came from Cleveland. Technically the Wolves didn't trade a pick for Thad either as the pick was property of Cleveland, never Minnesota. The only facts we have are that AB ended up in Minny and the pick ended up in Philly. There were conflicting reports about which asset each team preferred but it is safe to assume that each team got the one they wanted. The reality is that Flip chose Bennett over the pick by agreeing to the deal but the Wolves never owned the pick and, in turn, could not trade it. Miami should bounce back next year and it won't be a great pick anyway.

I know Flip said on a funkadelic after the deal was made that Bennett coming to Minny in the Love trade was never in question. You can speculate on whether that means Flip valued him or the Sixers didn't I suppose. Either way like LST said we gave up a pick that might have been nice but if we end up with KG instead of that pick it could be worth it but we won't know on either end for a couple years. Right now looking at the roster I am glad we have KG. We need a vet leader that has been missing for years and I do think it's important.
