Give Flip his due
He took over a team with a disgruntled star and not much of a supporting cast and has turned it into probably the best group of young players in the league. His big three of Wiggins, Towns, and Rubio are all under 25. All three can get it done on both ends of the court. LaVine, Muhammed, and Dieng have shown potential. All three of them are 25 and younger. He has made a few blunders, but has really stacked this team full of top end young talent.

I couldn't agree more, TRKO. No GM is perfect, and Flip has done some odd things at the PF position, but on balance I will take him over most other GMs. You're right...he has built one hell of a young roster. His first three drafts have been stellar.
Re: Give Flip his due
Outside of some questionable moves when he was trying to build a winning team in his first year on the job and then the still up in the air trade for AP I think he's been phenomenal. My interpretation of phenomenal may be somewhat tinted by the McHale/Khan eras.

McHale's early years were pretty damn good but yeah the recent bar in general is pretty low. :)
Flip has done a pretty good job and the Wolves have had some things go their way for once. Flip should get his due though.

Re: Give Flip his due
I give Flip only a 99 for 100. Wiggins and Towns were absolute grand slams. I've grown to like Lavine's potential. I'm glad he's kept Rubio. Bringing KG home was a great idea. Dieng and Tyus were great value picks. Shabbaz--not as terrible a pick as I first thought. Nits were yielding a first rounder for AB, a first rounder for Payne and cutting GR3 too early. And if I wanted to be supernitpicky, he didn't land Rudy Gobert, didn't trade up for Justise Winslow, Bobby Portis or Kevon Looney when they all slid. Flip is worlds better than all the other terrible GMs we've had, but he only deserves a 99 out of a 100.

Ricky, I think you mean trading a first round pick for Thad Young, not AB. AB came with Wiggins in the Love dumping.

Nope I meant what I said. Where is Cam to back me up? Philly would have taken AB rather than a 1st.

I don't think we know that...only speculative. What we do know is that Flip traded Love for Wiggins/Bennett, but then went haywire in dealing for Thad Young...and I think it's fair to rip him for that. But we don't really know what else was discussed. Saying that Flip traded a first round pick for Anthony Bennett is inaccurate and unfair.

I don't think its unfair at all. The press said Philly was said to be asking for AB for Thad and Flip preferred trading the Miami pick. I guess we can agree to disagree on that.

I see where you're coming from, Ricky, and I remember some of the speculation in the media about what Philly wanted for Thad. That then generated a lot of discussion here about which asset we valued more...a first round pick or AB. I always thought that discussion distracted from the real issue though...that Flip blundered in trading anything for Thad Young. I think most would agree that was a failed trade.
