I guess I would cross everyone off the list who feel the team is not ready yet. Why would we want a coach that doesn't have the ability to "coach" a team. If anyone doesn't feel this team can start winning within the next two years, they have zero confidence in their own abilities, and furthermore shouldn't be involved in any personnel decisions.

This current roster is one good defensive system away from making the playoffs, imo.

That's how I think as well. This "team not ready yet" makes zero sense to me. You change coaches when things are bad (like after finishing with the worst record in the NBA). You want a new coach to make changes, bring in experience or change the culture. Why would anyone want to change coaches if things are going well? If this team starts improving (and they certainly should) Flip's not stepping aside to let someone else steal his glory. Being able to say "Held both Coach and GM titles on Playoff team" would look pretty good on a Resume. And that would provide additional leverage for a bigger pay day down the road. I can't imagine why anyone would want to give up that kind of leverage.

Flip just wants to coach, I think it's that simple. That could change after this year, but for now he's coaching because he wants to, not because he couldn't find someone to take the gig.
