Corey's not a starter but he would be a nice energy player off the bench and brings something that we sorely lack - athleticism. If we could move a point guard for him it would be a very good deal for us.

Lol, what did Kahn say back to you?

Thats an interesting take lip. I agree somewhat actually with hoiberg's take. What brewer brings is relentless motor and toughness, defensively, he is not as good as it is being make out to be but still a good one imo. He just isn't a 1 on 1 shut down defender that he was being billed as, he seems to play too fast at times and is a better team and disruptive defender than a 1 on 1 defender.

Nevertheless, i would welcome him back in a 2.5m deal. I would like to keep jj, he is currently the only guy aside from rubio that can create offense penetrating to the basket.

He said that he hadn't made up his mind yet, and that the coaches really liked him. But it wasn't long before he was gone.

Should have given Kahn an uppercut while you had the chance Cool! ;-)

I was also against trading Brewer away, and in return we got Anthony Randolph. We all know how well that turned out for us.

Damn I voted for both Lip's and Kiwi's posts. To agree with Lip, STARTING SF (AK) is preference. That said, I still like Corey if we can't have him.

Lip that is interesting info from Freddy and I actually agree with it, but there are very few wing defenders that are more disruptive than Brewer. I think he would fit in well as a complimentary guy to the wings we already have. AK was a bit of a gambler on both ends of the court too he was more solid in both aspects and also smart about picking his spots. Personally I would like to have another guy with energy fire and competitive nature that Brewer brings. Its the same reason why we both like JJ and value him.

I remember Cool had that perspective and I agreed with it, but if Kahn had made up his mind to move on then AR was nice piece to get back. We saw how that turned out. Brewer is better than every wing that played on the Wolves before AK was signed. Thats not how great Brewer is its how terrible the wingers were on this team and that includes Beasley who sucks.

Also I'll add here Wayne Ellington got a decent contract from thw Mavs good for him. He is a decent NBA player and a good guy that works hard and seemed to get a little better every year. its another signing that makes JJ deal a little less likely.

I don't think it was a mistake personally to get rid of him. He was just not in the right situation role wise, coach wise, and talent wise back then. I do agree we need athleticism with Ricky though, so I would be interested in bringing him back at the right price now. :thumb:

Sorry to double post, but...

Jerry Zgoda
@JerryZgoda
Tomorrow could be big day for Wolves to swing s-t or get outbid for C Brewer, who wants to come back. Hearing he's aiming for 4 yrs, $19M.

Way, and I mean way too much. Heck, I thought 3MM was pushing it. Just give A.K. a 4 year 22MM contract.

I love me some Brewer but here are my concerns. When he was here, he had such a hard time guarding the elite guards/forwards in the game (Carmelo, Lebron, Kobe, Durant, Gay). I understand that in most cases you can't stop those players, but it didn't seem like he even slowed them down. I appreciate his hustle and he is a good defender, but we would still will have the problem of guarding the elites in the game. AK would be perfect, but he wants three years and we just won't have money for Rubio when it comes time to give him a contract. I really want MWP because he is a big defender that could guard the top players in the game. The only problem is it seems he may not want to come here. I read an article today stating his preferences on destinations. Take a look at it.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2013/07/09/metta-world-peace-new-york-los-angeles/2503307/Metta's Team Choices

It lists eight teams and unfortunately Minnesota is not one of them. I would still throw an offer to him though but wouldn't want to make Metta mad if he doesn't want to be here. So even though Brewer is not my first choice, he may be the only choice.
