Yes, think he could. That's a pretty good choice since both are similar in size and had similar college stats. I'm really high on Nowell so I'd actually be disappointed if he only became as good as Ellington - even though Ellington became a very solid NBA role player. Comparing the sophomore college stats of both players, Nowell had slightly better stats across the board - FG%, 3-pt%, rebounding, assists and steals. Watching both play, my eye test tells me Nowell is a much better ball handler than Ellington coming out of college. And I think Nowell has a lot more moxy or dog in him than Ellington.
I'm going to go out on a limb and proclaim Nowell the steal of the draft. This marks the first time I have ever proclaimed a Wolves draft pick to be the steal of draft. I didn't even accord that honor to Okogie or KBD - two guys who I considered much better prospects than their draft position would otherwise suggest.
...although their rookie years were very much in line with their draft position. I like Okogie a lot, but mostly because of his energy and highlight-reel plays (the block on Harden, a few of his dunks, etc.). But that was all eye candy relative to his actual performance, which was well below average. Still, he's got all the traits to indicate there is a lot more upside. We'll see.
As for the topic at hand, I know nothing about this guy. Seems to have a good NBA name - Jayden Nowell - I like it.
He's so undervalued. He's gonna add consistency to our bench which is something you don't often get from bench players.
