For me the right shoulder is saying Wiggins is trash and will always take bad shots and be a below average ball handler. You can't make someone care! The left shoulder is telling me dude chill out he's young enough and talented enough that he can at least play his way into a better trade asset if not be the type of player you want on your team.
Yeah I know that left shoulder should be cut off, but seriously if he just stops taking piss poor shots and learns to dribble he'd be good.

But he'll likely never ever live up to his deal. The Batum deal gets us two years closer to freeing up a bunch of cap space for someone better than either of these guys. And Batum the player is the better all-around player.
And even if Wiggins improves somewhat next season, he's also a year older and a year further in his career, which would continue to erode whatever value other teams still place on his "potential".

here is a stat I really don't understand that belongs to Wiggins: 8.3%...turnover ratio - how the hell is it so low? Even though he can't pass, his ast/to ration is not horrific.
Watching the guy play would tell me that number is wrong - but maybe I am just fooled and they use him in a way that minimizes those really bad fumbles he has apparently only 8.3% of the time.
I would also like to point out that our 3 PG last year are all in the top 9 in ast/TO ratio (including Bayless...)

Wiggins generally makes good non-shooting decisions on offense (we all know his shot selection sucks). He doesn't have great vision, but when he does make a pass, it's generally a safe one. I think a lot of his fumbles may go down as blocks for the other team OR he fumbles it and recovers, but has to kick the ball back out. I don't know.
The one area that I do think can be pretty easily changed is putting Wiggins in the corner more often. He is a career 43% from the corner, but only takes 16% of his 3's from that spot. That basically means he's a sub-30% 3 pt shooter otherwise. That is an absolute organizational breakdown right there. In fact, in his 5 seasons, only ONCE has he shot less than 40% from the corner 3 and even then it wasn't that bad at 37%. Yet he barely takes 1 in 10 3-pointers from that spot!? Just horrible.
Re: So knowing that the Wolves WANT to make a splash...
Great discussion between Abe, Monster and Kahns on a possible Wiggins for Batam deal. I'm torn. I still see the huge potential upside in the still young 24-year old Wiggins. But saving $2 million per year and then avoiding the final two years of Andrew's contract would be big positives for the Wolves. Maybe we could get the Hornets to include the rights to Cleveland's 2020 2nd round pick, which should be near or at the top of the 2nd round next June. Perhaps we could swap our 2nd round pick for that one to make the deal more acceptable to Charlotte. That would be enough for me to pull the trigger.

It seems like a pretty easy fix to just show him the data and prove why his mid-range contested jumper is just not the right shot to take. Harp on wanting him to shoot more 3's apparently good look threes from the corner after reading that info you dug up. He really could become an asset with just a few small changes. The motivation from game to game is the biggest question for me, is that fixable? If not ship him away for Batum and I won't complain.

Batum was David Kahn's holy grail. Let's trade Wiggins for Batum and then bring back David Kahn as head of player development.

The failed pursuit of dlo does bring back some memories of our failed pursuit of batum.
The difference was kahn did clear enough cap space at the last minute and batum signed but portland matched. Dlo on the other hand never signed and no cap space was cleared although we supposedly have 'deals lined up'.

Oh, I'm pretty sure he's been shown the data on the long 2's and he just doesn't give a crap. On the corner, that can be a little more forced since they can run sets that actually put him in that spot.

And that difference is why David Kahn was terrible and Rosas isn't. It's Ok to fail. What not OK is stupidity. To clear space for Batum, Kahn traded a future 1st round pick to dump Wes Johnson's contract. He really thought he was getting Batum. The the fact is, he had no commitment. Gersson was smart and declined to pull the trigger on a cap-clearing deal until he got an iron-clad commitment from Russell - a commitment he never got.
Don't forget that while David Kahn was clearing space for the guy who never came, he also signed Brandon Roy based on some injection that was going to somehow restore knees that were so bad he had to retire - in spite of all the medical advice to the contrary. Wow. I sort of forgot how bad it was.
