I'll keep saying it: Jimmy did a spectacular job staining Towns' reputation. Towns has a lot of respect to gain back. It might not happen this year. It might not happen til Towns is somewhere else, but these past few months have been tough for Towns as it seems like most look at Butler and think he was right about him.

Butler is an idiot. He's good friends with Antonio Brown for chrissakes. I don't think anyone cares much about what Jimmy Butler has to say.

I'll take Luka for him straight up right now.

I'd be curious to hear more of a breakdown of why you would take Luka over Towns if you would like to do so.

More complete player with a higher upside.

His upside is higher, and he's on a rookie deal now too. Towns isn't. I still think Towns will be the better player this season, not sure about 3-4 years from now.

I wouldn't. I think it's a wash at best. KAT's scoring AND rebounding are both elite. And his durability is equally elite. He's shown all those qualities consistently for 4 years in the League and is still only 24 years old. I'm a big Luka fan and think he'll be a star on the offensive end. Like KAT, his defense is a question mark. Based on what KAT has proven over several seasons, I'd take KAT. But factoring in Luka's potential, I'll call it a wash.

I think it's ridiculous to have Simmons ahead of KAT. I definitely wouldn't put Kemba ahead of KAT. He's not as good as KAT offensively and he's not better defensively. As good as Gobert is defensively, KAT's scoring and rebounding prowess combined with his incredible durability give him the edge of Gobert in my view.

I asked Cool to add more and he did. I was going to make some sort of counter argument and then I looked up Luka's stats...I hit the back button on my reply. Lol 21points 8 rebound and 6 assists in his rookie year with a good FT rate. One and he can handle the ball and score from anywhere basically a wing. Sure defense may not be great but Towns isn't either. I would have taken Luka #1 in the draft. This draft looks like it's going to have a number of good players but Luka looks to be well on his way to being a hell of a player if he can stay healthy (which is one thing Towns has over him). I think the Suns and Kings are going to have good big men for a long while but will ultimately be kicking themselves for not taking Luka.

Simmons has a rep as a good defender and advanced stats agree. That's not a small thing. Regardless these things are subjective it's interesting to talk about but I don't think it should carry a ton of weight or whatever. I'm happy we have Towns. I'm also happy there seems to be a lot of nice young talent in the league.

I was on the Luka train early on as well. In fact I said on here to trade Jimmy for a top 3 pick, (if possible I know it takes two to tango) and draft Luka. How nice would that have been had we got him? I highly doubt the idiot in charge even thought of that. I knew Jimmy wasn't going to work out. They had to move him before the draft, not wait till he blows up during the season.

I like RoCo a lot but I'd rather have Luka, duh.

Sure. I still don't think trading Jimmy would have gotten us a chance at Luka. People are generally not high on Culver but if he turns to be the player the Wolves seem to think he will be then...we will have ended up with a really good young player we would have wanted to get by trading Butler for a draft pick ESPECIALLY now that we know he basically wanted out before that draft. Yes we had to use our draft pick this year but we all have Covington too. Only time will tell.

For example of how unpredictable things can be...Who would have thought a couple years ago Lamelo Ball would be getting hype as a top 5 pick? Not me. Jarrett Culver top 10 pick in the 2019 NBA draft 2 years ago? Wait?!? Who?!?!

KAT is a below average defender at the most important defensive position on the court while being an elite offensive player at the least important offensive position on the court. I'd take Luka every day of the week. You can put shooters and defensive big men who just need to set good picks to be successful around Luka. KAT needs pretty much all above average defensive players around him to protect his defensive deficiencies and good PnR guards/wings to run the offense because he can't as a big. That's much harder to build around.
