Q, we did add Towns and Bjelica who both have a 3pt shot. That's 2 more at the bigs' position where we had none last year. AB and Payne both can shoot them decently, if flip allows it.

Our defense should improve by default with a healthy rubio. A healthy pek can control the low block against opposing post players and eats up plenty of space allowing for better defensive rebounding. Add KG for more than 2 games and a complete off season teaching young players where to be on the court defensively and of course Towns' defensive ability around the hoop.

Sounds like a good chance of improvement in both spots.

Rubiooo, Flip isn't going to let Towns shoot 3's - I can guarantee you that. I think it's pretty much the same with Payne and AB, so we can rule that out. Part of our 3-point shooting problem is our coach, which has been well documented. Bjelica's 3-point shot in Europe was uneven, but yeah, there is some hope there.

I agree that our defense should improve, but mostly because it couldn't possibly be any worse than last season. Simply going from last to, say, 20th would be a massive leap forward. I think our starting lineup with Rubio, KG, and Wiggins could be OK-ish defensively. But Towns, Martin, and our second unit are going to struggle big time.

Overall, I think our defense and 3-point shooting will improve. But the gap is so huge from "league average" that it would require a herculean leap in both categories to get there....I don't see it happening.

Q, when you're right your right. I think the key is improvement in those two areas. How much and how quickly are the questions.

Q I agree badically with your position. The key going forward defensively is if Towns is a legit factor on that end in the future. He won't be that now but we hope to see signs of it. Your comment on development is dead on. Why? We have a bunch of young guys and they are either too young to be counted on like Tyus or we don't know what we have in them like Bennett and Payne etc. in addition we have Bjelica who is coming into the league so we don't know what we are going to get from him. On the other end we have Miller and KG who are old dude that you know when they are on the floor what you get out of them and they will be effective at what they do. A year or 2 from now those guys won't be taking up a roster spot. Same for a couple younger players. Hopefully after thisbyear some of the younger guys are much more ready for their roles. I see Brown still has a chance to make the team as they redid his deal so he doesn't get his guaranteed money yet.

Just got back from a week-long fishing trip. Saw the headline about Andre Miller. Awesome!

A backup guard of Miller's caliber will not only help us win a few more games, but can only help the youngsters understand what it takes to play in the NBA.

Flip is rolling!

Good move by GM Flip. We gotta have the most guys under 22 in the league. Having a couple older vets to bridge the gap is a good thing IMO.

Others have made the comment about Coach Flip and that he's reluctant about giving up coaching control and that scares me about the future of this young team.
