Abe - Well put. Horrible trade for Magic. Not sure what they are doing. We need to get on the phone with them.

2. Oladipo + #11 pick + Ersan Ilyasova for Serge Ibaka. So, the other key young guy gets traded along with another young guy (#11) plus the pick they just traded the other young guy for... all to get 1 year of Serge Ibaka?

What? WHAT???

Here's a team that was losing but allegedly growing together. A team of talented youngsters. And they all get traded for 1 year from a veteran? And they lose draft picks?

Basically, the Magic turned Oladipo + Tobias Harris + #11 pick into Serge Ibaka (one year).

It goes against EVERYTHING that organization has been telling fans for 5 years. Dumb.

Two things going on here:
1. The actual Magic "fans" (The Natives) are spoiled by the lotto luck of 20-some years ago. As soon as the luck stopped happening, they lost interest. Even the '09 Finals team got way less buzz than it should have. The people who reluctantly follow the Magic because it's shoved down their throats (The Transplants) knew that day was coming. Some were counting the days.

2. The Harris trade was all Skiles. He never liked Harris, which is why MIL traded him to ORL in the first place. This new move reeks of Devos. The M/SP sports scene has no one like Devos. Not only is he bad as running a pro sports team, his politics are downright evil. Way worse than Carl Pohlad on his worst day.

Well I would argue Ibaka is an upgrade over Harris and Mario and Oladipo are both young SG's who need minutes and Mario is a better fit next to Peyton than Oladipo. They're a much better balanced team today than they were last week.

Is Payton part of the problem there... or part of the solution? Isn't he a poor man's Ricky Rubio?

I would have kept Oladipo over Payton and Mario, but I can see why they dealt him because he probably got them the best return and they got to keep Mario and Payton in a more balanced backcourt. Honestly if they could have got in on the Teague deal that would have been best in my opinion. Get a better PG next to Oladipo and maybe you can land Noel and Covington from the 76ers for Elfrid. Who knows? I do know they gave up their best player to get Ibaka though and that's a hard pill to swallow.

Love the deal for the Thunder. A backcourt of Westbrook and Olidipo is scary good. If they can resign Durant then they will make the finals. Kanters can play PF next to Adams. McGary and Sabonis gives them nice depth with plenty of upside.

Ibaka definitely helps the Thunder. A backcourt of Payton and Oladipo was never going to work, although I would have stuck with the latter and tried to trade Payton. Vucevic and Ibaka is a solid front court pairing but it doesn't help the development of Aaron Gordon who I believe has the potential to be the second coming of Blake Griffin.

Wow Abe that is a brutal breakdown. Thanks for that.

I'll add this to what you already put forth. Remember back in 2014 when Sam Heinke got them to give up a future 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder to move up 2 spots? Like someone else said if they have anything else they want to get rid of maybe pick up the phone. Maybe at the trade deadline...

If I were Glen Taylor, my contract with Thibs would require him to talk with Orlando Magic front office personnel at least once a month to explore possible deals. When you see an easy target, you have go after it. The Magic front office looks like the League's easiest target right now. Call them repeatedly and don't take no for an answer. :)
