Re: Offseason Beyond the #1 Pick - What Needs to Happen
Don't care for the most part (sans the #1 pick). That's all moving the furniture type of stuff. And I think the next couple of years will be about finding out if the Wolves even have the right house.
It's ALL about the development of Wiggins. (is he just another promising player, a future all star or a future superstar?) The development of LaVine (is something there or was he a test case for athletic guy who can move but can't really play posting decent stats on a super duper bad team?). And then the pick. Is he a franchise building block? Future superstar?
[Note: That's not to say that discussions about moving furniture and bit parts can't be sorta fun. But there are some legit big-picture themes with this team right now that will dictate EVERYTHING that happens with the team for the next decade.]

I was just thinking we might get a real contribution from you instead of your normal trolling acrobatics.

I'm not opposed to moving Bud if he can bring something of value in return, because if our roster is healthy, he shouldn't see the court much. But I think he is a good example of someone who has more value to us than other teams. We saw flashes of what Bud can do at the end of last year. I suspect other teams see an oft-injured guy with mediocre stats. I don't mind keeping him as a 11-15th guy.
I think we saw a guy that started making shots when the season was lost. He is mediocre offensively and a defensive sieve making 5 mil a year. I don't really see a need to move him now that he is in his final year, and we don't expect to make the PO's. Sit on him, and see if we can get something at the deadline.

Well your post pretty much said this thread is pointless and none of the moves it polls for would make a difference for us.

Huh?
1. Actually, I wrote that it can still create a fun discussion.
2. But you're right, it won't dictate much of what happens to the club beyond this season. At least I don't think so. Doesn't mean it's not worth discussing. Doesn't mean they are meaningless. All it means is that...
3. The future of the franchise rests in the hands of Wiggins, #1 pick and maybe, possibly, hopefully LaVine.
4. As stated, the options of the poll are fine to discuss, but the Wolves for once have such legit potential and questions with answers we actually want to hear... that, for me... I see the minutae of other players and deals less noteworthy.
5. Surprised that my rather tame post drew much attention at all.

The whole point of this thread was to discuss the less noteworthy deals. If you didn't want to take part in that discussion then why post on the thread? The discussion you want is not part of this thread. That's why it says outside of number 1 other moves you want to see happen. Not, let's talk about the number 1 pick and the rest of the core who is already locked in and not going anywhere. Nothing you've posted has made sense to be included in this thread outside of you openly admitting you don't think these moves will matter much and thus we should focus our attention on the stuff the thread specifically left out.

Re: Offseason Beyond the #1 Pick - What Needs to Happen
I'm a little confused why Abe's getting attacked. The purpose of his post, in my view, was to basically illustrate that while every move we make is important, the real key to the Wolves success (if there will be any) is the growth of Wiggins, LaVine and this top pick. It's a fair and logical statement. He just didn't provide any talk about trading Martin/Bud/Bjelica or signing anyone. I think that's fine.
