Then it switched to Towns/Okafor. Now other guys i.e. Russell are getting mentioned. It's sort of like (everyone brace for this) the 2013 draft where Anthony Bennett became the #1 overall. Here was a consensus Mock Draft for reference to see how much uncertainty there was at that time too: http://www.nba.com/news/2013-consensus-mock-draft/
It could be very interesting but i think the top 3 are pretty much a lock and after that yes it gets very interesting. You could see some moving around and guys dropping.
Wes Johnson was never a better prospect than Cousins except you didn't know what Cousins brain had going on in there. Maybe nobody still does. Lol I said back then that Cousins was the best prospect in the entire draft and I had to leave the dicision to pick or pass on him to the people know had access to much more information than I did. I liked Wes Johnson he seemed perfect for what we needed at the time. There was a lot of Paul George conversations back then and some posters really nailed it that he was going to be a good player. They did away me. It's time for the wolves to nail a couple more picks and become a good team again. I have some legit confidence in Flip since he has had some actual success so far.
Flip has done very well. Dieng looks like he could be a decent role player. Muhammed has shown some potential, as has LaVine. Wiggins while not drafted by Flip has the makings of a homerun. Flip has done about as well as you could hope.

Secondly, I would argue that if you look at the history of drafts, the top 10 in hindsight is pretty scattered if you were to review the draft 5 years later. So I think a Porzingas or Kaminsky could be a nice idea if we wanted to move back into the first.
Thirdly, would you trade our 36th and 37th picks for a vet? Another shooter perhaps?
Lloyd, my aviator is Anthony Weiner with a mustache. I'm not a political guy. But at the time I registered here, Anthony Weiner was caught in a scandal where I believe he was taking pics of his ding dong and sending them to someone under the fake name "Carlos Danger". I thought it was hilarious - and grabbed a pic I found online of what Carlos Danger (AKA Anthony Wiener) would should look like.
On your second point - I concur. It just seems like there is more uncertainly on this draft. But maybe it's because we have 1st choice and so much can go wrong.
On your third point, I think Flip will definitely make a move for a vet guy. I'm not sure how he will do it. But I can't see all these young guys on one team. We see it all the time...most coaches/GMs want a mix of young guys and vets vs. too many young guys.
The difference between the top 3 in this draft and everyone else is they each already bring something Elite to the table. Okafor's post game, Towns' rim protection and Russell's versatility in scoring. Then you add to that they have high potential in most other areas of the game. Those two traits are what separate them from the field. Everyone outside the top 3 with the exception of Porzingas is either lacking that skill that will transfer right away or they are lacking the potential whole package and Porzingas is a Euro guy which is just more difficult to translate. I thought the Cavs were stupid for taking TT over Jonas who went to Toronto and it turns out Jonas is just a solid two way player, but nothing special even after he filled out his frame.
You just don't know what Porzingas can really translate to the NBA given his size right now. He might be the next Dirk or he might be the next Jonas or he might be the next Vessely. I think he's the only other one pre-draft you could make the case for the number 1 spot and you'd have to do that basically on the Porzingas island where the shooting is Dirk level and the defense translates.
Guy's like George had nice looking games, but they pretty much had to improve across the board to be the players they became today. They were far from the complete package in college. Those guys will always exist and steal the show sometimes (hoping Lavine can do that) but the top guys are there because they limit your risk because you know you get a guy with one to many NBA skills from day 1 and they have just as much room for improvement as the George's and Lavine's.

HaHa! I forgot about Ron Mexico. Classic. BTW, I'm a big Seinfeld Fan too. The Lloyd Braun episodes were some of my favorite. You could have also gone with Art Vandelay as your posting name - lol!

I'll bring a rotating cast of characters for next season!
