Hey guess what the wolves traded Terrence Jones for Bud. GO WOLVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was dumb then, and it looks even dumber now. Life of a Wolves fan during the... almost every era. Awesome.
So, Josh Smith plays the worst ball of his career. He's so underwhelming, such a bad influence that his lousy team doesn't want him any more.
Smith's reward for his crappy play?
1. A raise.
2. The chance to start for a championship contender.
Take that Josh Smith. That'll teach you!!!
[Note: This is not completely unlike when Detroit picked up Josh Smith in the first place. Smith was coming off a season where he took too many 3 point attempts (career high). His reward? $54M... gee, should anybody be shocked that Smith didn't change anything and actually got worse? If you reward a guy for playing poorly when he has every incentive to play smart... why would he suddenly play smart when that incentive isn't even there any more?]

It's one of those bang your head against the wall realities of the NBA. Not only will he pick up an extra couple mil for the rest of the season, but he will likely sign a new deal for better than mle money going forward.
An extra 10-20 mil bonus over the next couple of seasons for piss poor play!
I love this quote - "I think I can add to their toughness," Smith said. "I think I can add to their versatility at the 4 position, being able to pass the basketball and score the ball down low.
"Just add another basketball IQ, which will help when we make it to the postseason."
Hasn't his BB IQ been the problem? I really hope it works out for McHale though. I wouldn't mind see a team other then the Spurs, Thunder,Grizzles, and Mavs in the conference finals this year.

Yes. And no.
He is versatile. And he does know how to play. It's just the shooting thing. But as I noted... why should he change. He continues to be rewarded time and time again for playing that way.
And as one might imagine, a young guy who's already made $100M straight out of high school might not be the most self-aware cat in town.
