Brewer Back on the Block
Re: Brewer Back on the Block
I would be on board if we could move Bud in the deal. That would be 10 mil in salary we could possibly save for next season, and that could get you two Brewers on the open market. Signing a guy that plays solid D and can make open 3's seems like a better use of our money.
Cory is a fun guy to watch, mainly because he is so aggressive. Unfortunately, it doesn't necessarily lead to winning BB games. Has similar TS% to Wiggins and Lavine this season, and they are both rookies. While his chaos is exciting, it also leads to a lot of foolish mistakes, and his overall skill set just isn't that good. Unlike most, I also realize that Brewer is at 100% only on offense and gambling for steals. He loafs back on D on most plays, and that isn't a characteristic I want passed on to the younger players. Cory doesn't scream mentor to me.

Latest news via hoops hype is that turiaf might be involved.. A deal I would like to see is brewer to the rockets for their trade exception + a first( I prefer a first to the knicks 2nd rounder) Then a seperate deal with turiaf for francisco garcia. This open up a permanent roster spot for adrien.

Can we even trade Turiaf? For whatever reason, I think we can't due to him being injured and out for season. Perhaps I'm wrong.

I think the trade to be made should be Corey and Ronny to the Cavs, Waiters to the 76ers and the Miami pick to the Wolves.

Corey Brewer and Ronny Turiaf for Tim Hardaway and Samuel Dalembert.

I'd rather have Waiters than the Miami pick. Waiters has proven that he has talent and can definitely create his own offense. I'd take that over a 20-30 1st rounder.

The Miami pick could be valuable to move up in the draft. Say we end up at 3 and Philly ends up at 1. They don't need either of the bigs who are the top 2 on the board, but could still get Mudiay at 3. A trade of 3 and 15-20 for 1 would make sense for both teams. I'm also not a fan of Waiters. He seems to get worse the less the ball is in his hands and while he'd get more touches here, he'd still be the secondary ball handler to Ricky.

Ugh, Waiters is the perfect example of a guy that simply hasn't been able to move the needle since his rookie year. As Wolves fans, we should have an appreciation for this by now - some guys just never get better. He's in his third year and there is absolutely no trend of improvement.

I think a team change could help Waiters, but I really like LaVine and worry Waiters will hurt his development.
