Wolves Summer League schedule has been released. I will be on a fishing trip in Canada, but will try and find some live feeds, or at least what games afterwards.

I’m going! I wouldn’t be going if we hadn’t drafted Dillingham and Shannon Jr. We should have a heck of a summer league squad.

And Shannon Jr. needs to play like his age. The dude is older than Ant (and Minott for that matter)! He has the chance to be a solid two-way bench wing, but given his extensive college experience, I don't think he should get a ton of rope.

I agree with both of you.

As Q suggested, this is certainly a pivotal summer league and preseason for Minott. I see more improvement from Minott than Q sees. I’ve observed improved ball-handling with nice passing skills and an impressive feel for the game I didn’t know he had when we drafted him. I also believe he has improved significantly at staying in front of players; he just needs to do it more consistently. This issue of concern for me is that Minott’s perimeter shooting does not appear to have improved at all. He could still be a Vanderbilt type energy guy off the bench, but I really think he needs to show improved shooting to have a role in the Wolves rotation.

I don’t believe Miller’s in the mix to have a chance at helping the Wolves next season. He’s a better scorer than Minott, but he’s is an absolute train wreck defensively and still seems to lack a free for the game on either side of the ball. He’s a year behind Minott so I see next summer and preseason for 2025-26 as the pivotal one for him.

Jaylen Clark is a complete unknown at this point. We first have to see if he’s fully recovered from and unaffected by his Achilles injury. Then we’ll have to see if the dunderhead I saw clowning around with Moore on the sideline is indicative of who he is. I don’t necessarily think Clark has Moore’s “Wes Johnson I don’t give a shit syndrome.” But I have a sneaking suspicious from watching him interact with Moore and others that he’s not the brightest bulb. In contrast, I think Miller is a really smart dude; it’s just a matter of whether he truly cares and has the competitive drive needed to succeed.

All three of these guys have a lot to prove. Meanwhile, I’m hoping Terrence Shannon Jr. plays at a level that offers us the luxury of not worrying about what we can expect from any of those three.

I think your last line there Lip is what we will see. Shannon will pass all those guys on the depth chart and carve out a role this year. He's got the chops to play in this league whereas the other guys haven't proven they do.

I hope you’re right, Cool. And I’m inclined to agree with your prediction. I try not to let myself get too excited about draft picks, but watching a ton of his video highlights and reading reviews I can’t help but see Terrence the way you do - as an NBA ready player who can help a team like the Wolves off the bench. He looks so much better than Miller or MInott!

Personally I think if Minott was thrown out there to just run around bring energy and effort do shit plays as a forward he could have probably done that. The problem is that Anderson and Naz have been firmly in the way of him doing so. Minott was pretty productive in do shit categories his one year in college. He didn't rebound well last year in the g-league but that team didn't rebound well it was kinda weird even though they did play small. I kinda wish Minott had played more in the G-league the past 2 years. It feels like he is a guy that could have just played more since he didn't play much in college. Connelly talked about playing faster. I wonder if the Wolves will be willing to play smaller at times and therefore maybe open up some opportunities for Minott to get in there. If you are playing fast Minott seems like a guy that would be flying up and down the court. If the Wolves play fast and with some younger guys at times get ready for some turnovers!!!

I do feel good about TSJ being able to help right away but it remains to be seen. The way the roster is right now there is a path for him to play if there is basically any injury on the wing. Vet wings right now are Edwards, McDaniels NAW and to some extent Anderson at SF if he comes back and then any other PG type you want to play as a SG with another PG type. Clark is a rookie coming off a major injury so...we have no idea. Even if the Wolves run it back it seems likely the Wolves will have to rely on some rookies playing some legit minutes at some point during the season beyond Dilly. The bright side is that Dilly and TSJ seem likely to help at least more on the offensive end of the ball and quite frankly this team has needed a shot there for a couple years on the perimeter.
