We should somehow get Donovan Mitchell to play with Rudy
LOL!
Nice list, Q! Thanks for putting that together.
Fox like a few others, make more money than I think the Wolves can handle, unless their gutting themselves like they would have to do for Giannis. But we do want someone who's salary lets us move Randle, so I am kind of ignoring the guys with smaller salaries.
If I had to pick my favorite, it would be Derrick White. Which is probably a lot of people's favorite! Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything that would indicate Boston has any inkling to part with him.
My next favorite is LaMelo Ball. Kyrie Irving and Jrue Holiday would be next. Immanuel Quickley and Dejounte Murray are low on my list. Suggs doesn't do much for me. And my gut tells me we wind up with Ja Morant.
Oh well...
Doesn't Charlotte really love LaMelo? IDK why his name is brought up so much. I think they'd have a hard time trading him unless he's not a team player/bad locker room dude. I guess they can resign White and go that route? IDK. Maybe if he's a malcontent we trade ours for theirs and hope it works out?

Yeah, it's probably just wishful thinking on my part. The only "smoke" was the report that the Wolves inquired on LaMelo at the trade deadline.

Yeah nothing wrong with that, I thought maybe there was some behind the scenes stuff with him, wasn't sure.
I bring up Kyrie because he doesn't make sense being a 34 yo vet playing with a 20 yo on a rebuilding team. He's probably well attainable and on the market, while I think most of these guys on the list you're going to have to overpay a bit or bunch to get them. Dallas (I THINK) wants to get younger/ get picks to build a contender in a few years. So I think Kyrie will be on the move to some team. He's got value to a contender. And Kyrie probably doesn't want to play for a rebuilding team that much either!

Charlotte makes more sense as a buyer not a seller and to that end Rudy is perfect for them. The only equivalent match for Rudy that I can see is the Lakers and that ain't happening. How cool would it be to get both of Charlotte's frps this year for Rudy?
A guy can dream lol

A couple thoughts.
Quickly actually statistically was better this year than last year in terms of efficiency. I'm not sure what the Raptors would want back for him other than just getting out from under his deal. Getting him back in a multi team deal moving Randle might make sense although like a couple others I haven't seen him play much for a couple years. Remember when OKC made that Savvy pick and selected him in that draft?! Lol
If I was gonna get a buy low guy I would take Tyus Jones for the vet min. I know he fell out of favor even with the Suns but it wasn't that long ago he was still an effective player. He is pretty similar to Conley (if Conley returns) but for that price I would hope Jones returns to me a good rotation guard again and would give the team an actual PG.
Meanwhile it does look like Tre has continued a slow ascent to being a better player. Idk how much he is worth though.
Ty Jerome and Collin Gillespie are interesting names. Maybe we should be looking to sign the next guy like that. Could that even be Bones? What about Brandon Williams on a cheap NBA deal? None of these guys are the answer to the Wolves problems but even a nice backup can make a difference especially in the regular season. These type of players can be found in a variety of ways.

It's funny because the best thing that could happen would be to find a bargain bin guy who can play at that level like Jerome and such players.
But
You can't go into the fall with that as your plan lol, you just can't.
So I don't really know what the answer is. I'm more and more inclined to believe that Morant will end up being the chosen route, so I'm over here trying to talk myself into it. And it's just really hard to buy into a guy who peaked when he was 22 and it's been four full years since

I'm not convinced they would take Morant even if Memphis paid them handsomely to make it happen. I'm not against it because you could probably get him and get something back to but it just seems like Morant is a guy that has more than one issue and he is getting paid a bunch of money. He is a guy that a team that kinda doesn't have anything to lose can be like sure we will take him like the Wizards did adding Trae Young. Injuries are a big problem for him he has never played 70 regular season games and he relies on his athletic ability right?
Connelly has always looked to add some legit type of players at spots where the Wolves needed guys. He hasn't always added the right guys but he has tried to address it. I'd guarantee him adding some sort of worthwhile guard this off-season in addition to resigning Ayo. There are gonna be guys available for the vet min that will fit that profile.

Clippers are going to draft a point guard at 5, picks 5-9 are probably all going to be guards. They more than likely draft Darius Acuff who will take Garlands spot. It wouldn't' shock me if they try to move off of Garlands contract. I don't know if he's worth his salary with his injury history especially in the playoffs. We've been linked to him in past years.

Legit ball handling point guards who are as good of playmakers as Ja are too scares for a team in need like the Wolves to pass up on. Or at least I think that will be the FO logic. It was an entirely safe bet that Trea wasn't a serious player, teams can still talk themselves into Ja, especially considering that is contract isn't back breaking.
I'm not saying I fully endorse the move but the guy has averaged 8 apg the last few year and in the short time he played this year, he registered 24 potential apg. Considering what he'd likely cost to acquire, it's making more and more sense to me. You can keep Rudy with him too cause of you'd be able actually run PnR, or trade him too I'd be fine with either.
From 23-25 Ja Morant and Des Bane (comparable archetype to Ant) had a 8.8 NRTG
I'm presenting the positive information here and the optimistic view, because Ja seems like a lost cause to me. I don't like a guy that has done almost nothing to improve his game through 7 seasons.
That's said we're in a beggars can't be choosers situation and the stars seem like they're aligning

I kinda don't wanna trade for the solution unless it involves Randle or Gobert (though I'd be more hesitant on Gobert). I'm sick of effectively using whatever "flexibility" we were supposed to get by trading KAT just to patch up things Connelly whiffed on. That's not flexibility. That's praying for a mulligan.
Reach option:
Kyrie.
Realistic option:
Quickley in a Gobert trade.
Very realistic FA option:
Tyus Jones on a vet min to replace Bones.
What I expect:
Ayo back, Conley back in the Ingles role, one of our draft picks being our third string G League PG, signing another PG on a two way, and either Jones or Bones coming back
OR
if Ayo leaves, the Gobert to Toronto proposal I offered earlier where Quickley starts for us and Jones signs.
