Do we prefer a Rudy centered offer or a 2033 1st centered offer? Would it take both and would you offer both?

Rudy has to be in the trade financially assuming Naz and Jaden are not in the trade.

Tonight Matt Lloyd addressed the fact that teams have already been contacting them since they have that trade exception to absorb salaries etc. Connelly is always calling teams ( it's his job) but now the Wolves are a team that can accept salary so they are gonna be looped into just about any deal because teams may be seeing if they will find a way to make the trade work.

Yeah, I just don't see why Charlotte trade Melo without getting something tangible back that helps next season. It would have to be Rudy. (unless Charlotte is the one looking for a salary dump -- then it can be merged into the Randle trade)

I feel like he's in on names that don't seen practical or feasible to add just to say he did so that in the event that things don't happen, he can say "we tried."
It looks better than not being in on these guys, watching them go somewhere else, and then during the press conference where we signed John Collins to the MLE, he can say those teams went in a different direction.
Work on filling out the bench, work on finding more UDFA's (to this point we haven't heard of any signings besides our 2nd rounders) and go to battle.
This reminds me of when Isiah Thomas swore he was in on signing Kobe to the Knicks even though all he had was the MLE

That is likely correct but I was making a case for a 2033 first-centric package being possible.

LaMello’s salary next season is $40.7 million. So I don’t think we can acquire him using our $33 trade exception. Using the TE would hard cap us at the 1st apron of $209M. We’re currently at $175M, which means Ball’s salary would push our payroll above 1st apron up to $215M. Further, Charlotte is not in a cap squeeze so they wouldn’t be looking to dump salary. So it would have to be Rudy since I think it’s obvious it would not be Jaden, Naz or Ayo. Maybe Rudy + TSJ + Clark + our 2033 first? I don’t know. Would they really swap Ball for Rudy without getting more from the Wolves? I doubt it. So who would the Wolves have to include?
