Can Case Keenum be any good without Sherman? My feeling is that the system made him look good. Plenty of QB's have had one good years and fell off the map.
I wouldn't offer big money to any of the three QB's since none has proven to be long term answers at all.

They really kinda have to pay someone some decent money. I've seen headlines that the Vikings are expected by league executives to franchise tag Keenum. Yeah it's a lot of money (if it happens which i would t be surprised) but he is gonna cost more than like 10 million a year and having him signed for just one season and figure it out from there isn't the worst idea.

Keenum isn't perfect, but if they can further solidify the line and get Cook back healthy they could once again be a very good offense.... until the playoffs when it matters and the entire team falls flat on it's face like they always do.

Would any team offer Keenum a big deal? A one year franchise tag may make sense if they have the cap room. If not, just let him walk if some other team is offering up multiyear.
For me, I'd be fine rolling with Teddy if he has proven to be healthy enough in practice. He'd be cheap and free up room to keep the defense rolling. (until they throw up again in the playoffs)

Case is just not worth the franchise tag. $25 million even for 1 year is an albatross for a career backup with 1 good season under his belt. Honestly I would let him walk if he wants anything over 15. We saw what he looks like when his line and receivers get banged up. He can't carry the offense at that point so you can't pay him like he can because you need to keep up your depth at those other positions. If we're willing to dish out 25 million at least get an upgrade and get Kirk Cousins.

Brees is already off the table. I'm not sure Cousins is gonna be an option so we will see. I believe the franchise tag is just under 23 million. Let's say Keenum walks who is the guy you feel good about? Teddy? We have no idea what he really is and it's fair to question his ability to stay healthy coming back from such an injury. Sam? Can't stay healthy. Is there other options that sounds interesting? Tyrod Taylor for like 10 million on a 1 year deal (or even less)? Some other guy? The Vikings have like 50 million in cap room. I'm not saying 7-8 million isn't significant but a 1 year deal has value I'm not locking into one guy. Of course really they could probably offer him a 1 year deal for 20 million and he should jump on that. There are gonna be some teams looking for QBs and there will be some options like AJ McCarron. It's hard to know if anyone is gonna throw more than your suggested 15 million (that's what I have been thinking also) at Case or not. Free agency opens before the draft so that's always a little bit weird. Would a guy like Case sign with a team that's likely going to replace him with a young QB?
The other question is reporters brought up Tolling Teddy's contract to Zimmerman and he said he didn't know. It seems like from what I read that is absolutely an option that they can do if they want to which is pretty interesting. It's gonna be a heck of an offseason.

Cousins got $23.9 million last year on the tag and his new deal will only help raise that number for anyone else. Average salary of the top 5 QB's right now is:
Stafford 27
Carr 25
Luck 24.6
Brees 24.3
Flacci 22.1
That's 24.6 before Cousins and Brees get new deals.
I just don't see how you can give that to Case. There is no guy I feel good about now. I don't know how anyone can watch the last half of the season and feel good about Case without everything being perfect around him which this is the NFL. It won't be. Teddy is unproven and Bradford is still made of glass. That doesn't mean you should overpay for Case out of fear of the unknown. Case is also unknown because we'll have a new coordinator. I think the best options now all involve a deal for Teddy and a guy in front of him who can be the backup if Teddy shows up ready to play. Whether that's Case, Tyrod, or even a trade for a guy like Andy Dalton who's essentially on a one year deal. I think Teddy is the guy, but I also understand you can't bank your franchise on him so a 1 year stop gap makes sense to me. I just don't want to pay that 1 year stop gap over 20 million. That's sacrificing a depth guy for no reason given the amount of options available.

If we can toll Bridgewater we need to do it. I think Case has bounced around enough that he is open to taking a little less to comeback. I wouldn't give him a dime over $20M for a single year contract. I would try for a 2 year $32M with it front loaded for this year.

Problem is when you pay one player big money then he better be Tom Brady good, if not even Aaron Rodgers can't get it done with the guys he has.
That's what worries me is keeping the defense rolling. Can't put all your eggs on an unproven QB and sacrifice other positions by doing so.
As far as other options, I like Baker Mayfield in the draft if he drops. I actually like Tyrod Taylor more then most. He's had fairly good stats for his career. McCarron, IDK, I wasn't a fan of his.
Honestly I'd probably roll Cousins with a bigger money deal before Case.

I am appalled that nobody is talking about the Senior Bowl here yet.
