Really seems like they value not being locked into a first rounders salary slot….

Glad the wolves got out of the first…first? The 33 will have a player that fits for us. Hoping for a backup forward. Baba or Jefferson.

There goes Jefferson by way of Minnesota

I’m gonna stop talking now. 5 spots left and 5 folks I’ve even heard of left…
Re: Draft Night Thread - First Round
The Wolves keep preaching connectors. Alex Karaban could fit the bill but Kings might take him here.

After all the film and live games of him I’m sure they watched, along with extensive analytics, I doubt one in-person work suddenly disappointed them to the point where they were no longer interested. I’ve always viewed moving up for certain players, one of which was probably Philon, as a contingency plan in place in the event the Wolves were unable to execute a deal for a win-now player they want. My read on moving down to 33 and then passing on any chance at Philon is that the Wolves have a higher priority contingency in the works. It’s a good sign in my view because, if it tells us anything, it tells us the Wolves are confident they will be able to get a current NBA player they like using the trade assets they would have otherwise used to move up for Philon. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I was ready for the Philon era but I’m content to remain in the Rocco era.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 9:35 pm Maybe the Wolves didn't see what they hoped to see in Philon. There actions seem to suggest that.
Seriously, I’m absolutely convinced the Wolves are going to use their trade exception or Rudy in a deal for a very good, established veteran to fits well with our core of Ant, Jaden, Naz and Ayo. I suspect TC is well down the road on a couple alternative deals and ready to pull the trigger on one or the other. And I wouldn’t be surprised if he already has a deal in place but is waiting for certain final pieces to fall into place.
