After all the film and live games of him I’m sure they watched, along with extensive analytics, I doubt one in-person work suddenly disappointed them to the point where they were no longer interested. I’ve always viewed moving up for certain players, one of which was probably Philon, as a contingency plan in place in the event the Wolves were unable to execute a deal for a win-now player they want. My read on moving down to 33 and then passing on any chance at Philon is that the Wolves have a higher priority contingency in the works. It’s a good sign in my view because, if it tells us anything, it tells us the Wolves are confident they will be able to get a current NBA player they like using the trade assets they would have otherwise used to move up for Philon. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
