I don't think people realize how much balls this Trade took for TC. My wife when I told her literally teared up because its her favorite player. My Chiropractor went to me TSR has to be pissed with all the marketing they've done with Naz.Monster wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 10:11 am This is a bit of a surprise in a way. Here are my thoughts.
Ball seems like a guy that will be toms of fun with Edwards and those guys will likely have a fun vibe on the same roster. My biggest issue with Ball is whether or not he stays healthy. Defense sure but he can't play either side of the ball if he isn't available to play.
What are we doing at PF? Maybe they are just gonna play Jaden there. To some extent that's interesting. Josh Green is a solid addition the Wolves kinda have a bunch of wings right now.
Naz Reid is a good player and a fan favorite however there has always been a little bit in the back of my mind that did wonder if he was gonna be a good starter or not. The folks here that thought he was overpaid or overrated I didn't completely dismiss where they were coming from. Is Ball worth 17 million and assets more than Naz? That's a fair question but it does feel like Ball right now objectively is a better player at a spot that's pretty important.
Connelly definitely isn't afraid to make a trade. It will be interesting to see how this works out. I'm nervously excited.
I'll also add that if this works Ball with Beringer could be fun too in addition to him probably getting Gobert some easy buckets if he is still on the roster.
I watched over a half of a Duke UNC game last night to see Evans play. He definitely did some good things.
Not when you arent long term attached to the team and have been highly sought after by other franchises. This move makes him look like the big game hunter he loves being and will land him any job he wants next year.Jester1534 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 10:21 amI don't think people realize how much balls this Trade took for TC. He traded a all time franchise fan favorite player. That takes some balls.
I was thinking TJ might be on the move in a PF deal too. If it happens in the current deal there will be no aggregation restrictions
Probably a minority, kek, but you have company.
For the record, I'm in. I love Naz but it's a talent upgrade and can really open up the skills of this team. Melo/Joan oop connections!!!FNG wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 10:30 amProbably a minority, kek, but you have company.
Will I miss Naz? Of course. His unique combo of 3-point shooting and post moves were fun to watch. But I have never bought into the idea of him as a starter. And while the "moodiness" factor has always been linked to Ju, I think Naz was in this club too. The funk he fell into midseason was difficult to watch.
Is our starting 4 a mystery? Again, of course. But I trust TC to fix this somehow. Patience.
I may like this deal even more than Kek and Tim. I've been silent here the past week because it felt to me like TC might be comfortable taking a gap year. Losing two starters and replacing them with guys who feel like 6th men to me felt like we were destined to be a play in team...or worse, if we ran into bad health luck. I know some saw Ayo as a starting PG. but I never bought into that...he's much better suited as a scorer off the bench. His handle is fine and he's excellent at getting downhill, but he's too cautious as a facilitator for my taste. Possessions were not "productive"...he protected the ball just fine, but I didn't see him as someone who made his teammates better. But LaMelo? How about 7.3 APG for his career with only 3 TOs? He is immediately going to make Ant, Jaden and even Rudy better on offense. We've all been saying we need a true PG for a long time. Well, boys...we got one!
In the back of my mind, there was always a feeling that Jaden might do better in PF minutes but then that puts Naz in an awkward place againMonster wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 10:11 am This is a bit of a surprise in a way. Here are my thoughts.

Yup. Bagley would be a good target. I like either Jock Landale or Kelly Olynyk as well, although Kelly might be falling off an age cliff...WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 10:40 amIn the back of my mind, there was always a feeling that Jaden might do better in PF minutes but then that puts Naz in an awkward place againMonster wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 10:11 am This is a bit of a surprise in a way. The only name that springs to mind as a depth piece that might be tolerable is Marvin Bagley.\
EDIT: it just hit me. TC's gonna try to trade for Zeke Nnaji isn't he?
