Floyd is on his last leg in the NFL. I'd bet it is more likely he is on a couch next season vs. putting up stats for us. The Cardinals couldn't get him to buy in, the patriots couldn't get through to him. Further, he has TONS of mental lapses on the field. Constant wrong routes and dropped balls. If he beats out Treadwell then I will be super disappointed. If treadwell has no impact this season AND we miss the playoffs then Rick absolutely should be fired. I really wanted Michael Thomas or Cody whitehair in the first last year, whitehair actually fell down lower than our 2nd rounder. Both were studs, and both were attainable even with a trade out of the 1st. The year previous Peters > Wayne's was the obvious choice to me.

Rick is more flair than substance in the draft. He enjoys the art of the deal. Patterson, Floyd, Ponder, potentially treadwell are just some of his first round busts. He also sucks at late round drafting.

I will say I loved the Bradford trade, and even more so now that cook and elflein were both there for us. Never expected cook to be there in the 2nd so didn't put much thought into him, but I thought elflein was a target in the 2nd after a slight trade down. It turned out to be more like trading a 3rd and a 4th for Bradford if you go by predraft rankings.

I am not as negative about Rick. He certainly is not perfect, but there he seems to midpack GM at a minium. My big issue with this year's draft and last years was he reached on guys like Gedeon and Beavers. We should have gone with Desmond King and there was some solid DT's on the board last year. I think if Coo, Elfein, andh Johnson bust he is toast, but they are solid and the offense improves, but the defense takes a step back and we post a 6-10 record. I don't think he should be fired. I llook at this year as a reload year in a lot of ways. I like Bradford, but worry plan B for QB. Teddy was not a sure thing before his injury in my eyes.

Shariff Floyd was a pretty solid player and likely would be if he didn't have a botched surgery. I Have a hard time seeing how someone can rip Rick for picking that guy he was supposed to be a top 12 talent or whatever. That was a no-brainer pick.

As for MICHAEL Floyd...let's see if there are some legit stories about him actually turning his life around. Maybe they will be fluff but before his signing I hadn't heard anything maybe he wasn't looking to be public about it but now he has said he owns upnto it etc. We will see. On the field I agree he is inconsistent...but he is also. If fast and has been somewhat productive. Rick drafted Patterson and that didn't work out but Floyd was picked higher in that draft and now they have him. It's not always just if you pick the right guy or not but how you figure out ways to correct your mistake. We will see.

Edit: There is plenty to rip Rick on I just don't see the Floyd pick as one of them.

This year just can't be a reload year. You can't trade a first round pick for 2 years of Bradford and miss the playoffs both years. You have to go if that happens. The opportunity cost of that pick in this draft was massive because several top 10 talents dropped (Allen, Hooker, Foster). If we miss the playoffs that is a massive miss. When you make a move with the purpose of throwing out the future for the next year or two you have to make the playoffs or go.

I see it differently. The Bradford trade was about last year. The team was primed and ready. Lots of things went south and this team doesn't have the same promise. I would rather keep going with Rick and Zim unless this team totally implodes than start over.

Well it's a soft reload maybe. It's clearly a team they think can win. It's the NFL just get into the playoffs almost anything can happen once you get there.

Remmers
L. Murray
Micheal Floyd
Reiff
Made a big offer to Jared Cook
Signed a vet punter for competition
Keenum

Those aren't moves of a team just reloading with you players to try and win in a year or whatever. If this team goes 6-10 something significant has gone wrong and I would guess it would be a significant rash of injuries. Hopefully Zimmer's eye issues will be behind him I think that was more significant to last year's lack of success than people tend to consider.

Soft is a good way to put it. We have more changes than last year and are coming off a step back not forward.

Interesting read. Fans giving us a B for the offseason.

I would give them a B too. I think to get an A+ we needed to resign Captain and draft Desmond King. I think we did a good job. It will be interesting how these moves work out. If everything works in our favor we could be looking at a top 10 offense and defense next year. That would certainly put us in the hunt.

Wolfson mentioned this as a possibility of his house arrest getting transferred on his podcast a few days ago.

He had Floyd's longtime trainer who is from the Twin cities and he really vouched for Floyd. It was a worthwhile listen he said some really good things about Floyd that were encouraging that didn't seem like BS.

We in Minnesota like it when we give someone a second chance and it pays dividends. I hope this works out for him and Treadwell to support Diggs and Thielen.
