Thread for offseason news.
The big shocker was reported that Scott Turner will not be back.

Vikings 2017 Off-season
Re: Vikings 2017 Off-season
I was a little surprised that Turner was fired. It makes sense that Shurmer would get to pick his QB coach though and it may have been a good idea to start more fresh. I don't think Turner was the problem though it seems like there were plenty of positive reports of the work he did while a coach here.

Article on who returns.

I see most of them, but think Kalil is 50/50if he takes a big pay cut.

Re: Vikings 2017 Off-season
I realize with the volume of injuries they sustained along their O-Line it's kinda hard to upset with the results of this season. All the same I'm having a really, really hard time caring about next year already. It sounds like we'll have the Raiders here in Vegas in a couple years, of course this is the same team I absolutely hated when both they, and I resided in LA.
Oh, and the damned Wild lost last night, I guess it's time to get on board the Golden Knights bandwagon!! :D

Golden Knights?
Here is a breakdown of FA the Vikings might consider.

I don't see them going after WR. I would focus on OL and DT. Other spots would be LB to replace Greenway if we don't think we have someone that can step in.

I don't see any way they sign a WR. That group looks pretty legit now and CJ is probably a lock as a cheap guy that can do a lot since he was willing and showed actual ability as a ST player. They didn't draft Treadwell to sign another player to keep him off the field. If they spend money it needs to be at another spot (most likely oline) period.
The Vikings have targeted some cheaper players in the past some of them have been useful some not. There are plenty of interesting things to see about. I think one option at LB would be playing a more typical MLB like Brothers in the base and putting Kendricks on the outside. I'm not sure if the other LBs weren't up to the task or if Greenway did exactly what he was supposed to do so they had no interest in playing someone else over him.
The real stories start with AP Greenway Floyd Robison Newman and Captain. Those are all pretty legit players in one sense or another. I think I would be the most surprised of Robison wasn't back. It seems he is willing to be a backup and he is still a good player and been here forever and would be willing to take a bit of a pay cut. It will be a very interesting offseason maybe the most interesting one for this team for a bunch of reasons in quite some time. I tend to think it will be less dramatic than expected but we will see.

Re: Vikings 2017 Off-season
-If AP is smart he will be back. He will get paid the most here.
-Greenway will likely retire. He barely made it back last year and he just is not a good coverage guy
-I don't see Floyd coming back unless he is cheap
-Robison will be back
-Newman or Cap will be back. Not sure which.
I hope Brothers can play more MLB for us next year. It would be good to see someone pan out from the draft last year. I would love it if we saw a few guys make an impact in their sophomore years. Kearse, Brothers, and Treadwell would be my picks to do something.

Games are over. We have a 5 week head start on Patriots and Falcons. Good article on Adam Thielen. I don't see how we can afford to lose him. Diggs can't stay healthy. We have no running game and he caught basically everything thrown his way. It will be interesting if we can sign him back and at what price. (Didn't know the Pats got Hogan from Bills)

I don't see how they don't pay him unless the price tag is crazy. Spielman has a history of paying his own and Thielen fits that as much as any guy. Hogan worked out probably even better than predicted. It's crazy how the Pats won the Super Bowl when you look at the skill position guys they have. Other than Bennett who they got for a 4th round pick (cheap considering his talent from Chicago and they got a 6th rounder back) nobody was drafted higher than the 4th round. Ultimately you wonder if the Vikings knew Thielen was gina break out like he did and CP would step up if they would have drafted another position other than WR last year. I do think it's kinda tough to blame them for taking him since they haven't had a big receiver worth much since Sidney Rice.
