I don't think the Rockets would deal Capela but he can't be traded till Jan 15th.

FWIW and I'm not angling that hard for this deal but Gordon, Nene and Chriss add up to almost exactly Butler's salary. It would be a pretty decent chunk of 2019 money to take on for 2019 but I think there are ways the Wolves could stay below the tax without giving up draft assets to do so.

If we're forced to maneuver to stay below the cap next season, I'd rather be forced by acquiring Troy Johnson or Whiteside from Miami than those three from Houston. And I'd prefer not to face Butler multiple times against a Western Conference team each year. And I'd prefer not to face Butler multiple times against a Western Conference team each year. For me, the only way a deal with Houston is palatable is if all four picks are unprotected. Then it doesn't much matter who we get back because I don't see any of the players we're likely to get back having a significant positive impact on this team, especially after this season.

I dont know, I think it'd be fun having wiggins go at Butler. We all know that Wiggs holds grudges. And KAT would be extra motivated as well.

If I'm a GM I start signing guys that piss Wiggins off and then letting them go to other teams. Lol

Reminder that Chriss can have his option declined so he would be an expiring. That's less money than any heat package. Part of why I always talk up a possible Houston deal has always been that if that's the worst deal available we can do better and use that as a negotiation point. Now that baseline just got even better with a bunch of picks on the table and Houston struggling. We have no real idea what the other offers are. Amusingly last night I had a dream where so saw a tweet that laid out all the trade packages the Wolves could choose from. All I remember was skimming the tweet and thinking it looked pretty good but I had to move on so I can't tell you what the packages were. Lol

It seems likely the Heat will have upped their offer unless they now think Josh Richardson is the guy or something and don't want to move him. I can't imagine the Sixers wouldn't check in and see what it would take. Job K said yesterday on the podcast that Scott Layden is actually calling teams now not just waiting for them to call him.

Monster - Knowing that Butler trade packages are no populating your dreams, I'd say it's time for an intervention. :) Otherwise, I'm loving your idea of signing guys who piss of Wiggins and then trading them to other teams. To maximize the value of that strategy, all those trades should be with Western Conference teams, starting with a Butler to Houston deal.

On a slightly more serious note, it's good to hear that Layden is being more proactive and calling other teams. One would think that when he calls other GMs he's telling them that the Wolves are getting some nice offers from other teams and that they need to step up with their best offer really soon if they want to add one of the best two-way players in the League to their roster.

I think a lot of people probably could use an intervention right now. Lol

On strategies for Wiggins...On his podcast Dane Moore asked Britt Robson what he would do with Wiggins if he was the coach. Britt said he would make Wiggins his 6th man and explain to Wiggins that he simply isn't giving the Wolves enough consistently enough to be worthy of a starting spot and 37 minutes a night. He said he would use minutes and a starting spot in hopes that it jumpstarts Wiggins into something more. Meanwhile he figures putting Wiggins in a role where he is the scorer off the bench with a 2nd unit may work well even if Wiggins doesn't do something. Britt has been a Wiggins supporter from the beginning. I think most here would agree we wish at times whoever was coaching this team would have been harder on not Wiggins and Towns at times. In some ways it's kinda weird Thibs hasn't. I get why he hasn't for various reasons but still.

Porter with almost no minutes last game and no injury to be reported yet.

16 minutes and a +7. I think he's alot like tyus in some regards, that even if the boxscores doesnt show it, he does good things on the court to help win games. He'll never be that guy to carry the offense in spurts, but he alsowont do too many things to kill you. And we can use a few more of those types of guys.

I'd want Troy Brown Jr as well for taking on Porters contract. Ideally:

MIN receive: Otto Porter, Troy Brown Jr, Jason Smith and 2019 1st round pick (lottery protected).

WSH receive: Jimmy Butler and Gorgui Dieng

Not me. I don't think we should complicate this by insisting someone take G.

It's far from over complicating things. We would need to add a contract to make it work. A straight swap doesn't work salary wise.
