Trade Target Performance Tracker
Trade Target Performance Tracker
We all know a deal was apparently close that would have swapped Butler for Josh Richardson and some other assets/liabilities. Another name that some of us have mention is C. LeVert. They both had terrific games tonight.
LeVert: 27 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
Richardson: 21 points 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block
Another name is Tobias Harris. He has 11 points at halftime. But we've heard so far that the Clippers aren't willing to part with him.
I'm beginning to think we'll end up with Otto Porter from the Wizards. Just a hunch.

I think Id be good with a package around Richardson and Whiteside IF we trade Jimmy. Both guys would fix alot of the issues we have, especially with opposing bigs just bullying us in the paint.

Otto Porter for Butler would be quite the deal.
I've been thinking though...let's say hypothetically Richardson turns into basically the level of player that Otto Porter is or VERY nearly the same. Which deal would you rather do Butler straight up for Porter or Richardson and Waiters plus a 1st round pick? Maybe Wizards throw in a 1st round pick also so maybe it's down to Richardson and Waiters or Porter. Guess which deal locks in guys longer AND costs less in total salary?
Re: Trade Target Performance Tracker
The best thing about tonight is the Heat lost to Orlando. I'm sure they're not used to that. They're so mired in mediocrity that more losing is going to amp up the pressure.
I take the Porter deal as I think he's better than Richardson, but I can envision a scenario where the market for Jimmy heats up. There's always one or two overachieving surprise teams. Maybe an expected suitor kicks the tires after a few weeks of sucess.

Great question, Monster. I'd take Richardson based on your hypothetical that has Richardson turning into basically the same lever player as Porter. I actually think your hypothetical is realistic. I like Richardson's ball-handling and quickness. I just have a gut feeling we're going to end up dealing Butler for Porter. We'll probably include Patton in the deal and get Washington's lottery-protected 2019 first round pick. Ideally, we'd include Gorgui instead of Patton in the deal and get Markieff Morris in return. That deal would give us some financial relieve over the long haul.

Butler with Dwight Howard? Oh boy!!! Lol
It's interesting to think about dealing Patton. I bet there are some basketball people on teams that still think he has a chance to be a good player. The Wolves drafted him so my guess is they want to see it through and...honestly I can't blame them. I was thinking this morning about his chances of being a worthwhile player and then comparing that to another young talented player. Just for fun this is where I ended up.
1st you have health. Let's say he has a 50% chance of staying healthy enough to have a chance at success. That's not a great place to start. That figures I'm not just his foot injuries but anything else that comes up. It's worth remembering that any player can have injuries come up that prevent them from being successful. Patton is an example of that. He had basically no health problems before his first broke foot.
So let's say he beats the odds and stays realitively healthy. What are the chances he turns out to be good/useful as at least a rotation player? 25%? So basically since he has a 50% chance of staying healthy you can half that other percentage and you have what a 12.5% chance of him being worthwhile? What is the chance of some other player making it? 25%? 20% once you figure the possible random injury problems anyone could have? The Wolves can pick up Patton's option for 3.1 million for next year. Even if you consider possible Luxury tax more than a vet min player that's still not a huge investment in a guy they clearly liked at one point and has some sort of chance to be worthwhile. I'm certainly not opposed to dealing him but it seems kinda like he might be a guy worth more to the Wolves who picked him than another team. If someone values him at any decent rate we should jump on that though! :)
Meanwhile...LST's guy J. Allen has another huge block on Blake Griffin. I'd like to have Allen on our team but I'm liking that he is doing well. I think we can enjoy other players do well even if we don't select them...to some extent.

LaVert is known as not being available for Jimmy among NBA reporting. He's not on the table.
Re: Trade Target Performance Tracker
Lip, you keep bringing up otto porter or even beal. Are the wizards involved intersted in jimmy? Because I would take either porter or beal in a straight up trade.

Levert and Jarrett Allen are essentially Brooklyn's main cornerstones out here.

Re: Trade Target Performance Tracker
I guess one of the benefits of going into the season with Butler is it gives us further opportunity to assess the talent available and whether any of them are improving/regressing. Of course, it also means Butler could get hurt and tank his trade value.
