Considering the "small ball" idea, Kenrich Williams seems like really good fit, doesn't he?TheGrey08 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 9:07 amDoesn't change my concern at all lol. Even if they go small they need a good stretch PF rotation piece. Not having that versatility would be a mistake.60WinTim wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 8:53 amSee "Going Small", of which Green would be an important part.TheGrey08 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 8:38 am After hearing this from Dougie (regarding Collins never being an option for MN) I'm a tad concerned they are going to get stuck unable to re-route Green...
If they get stuck with a barely rotation piece PF it's going to really be a dampener on this off season.

I'm still hoping that the Bulls would be open to moving Jalen Smith but probably not.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 9:12 am I just did a spotrac check of bigs that could remotely get swapped for Josh Green (so the numbers may be unofficial, but we can't take back more money than we send).
This is the entire list
Bobby Portis (who got dealt to Miami so you better pray Miami merely treated him as a throw-in)
Dorian Finney-Smith
Jake LaRavia (now this is interesting in that he only makes $8 mil, but LA for now is under the cap. I only doubt this happens because this would trigger a hard cap potentially and they have dreams.
Taylor Hendricks and Kris Murray combined make a little less, but this couldn't happen until early September.
Oddly enough, the one big man who woulda made financial sense in a Josh Green swap was Brandon Clarke and he's gone.
Otherwise, get ready for the Josh Green era!!
Re: 2026 FA/Trades/Resigns
I would look at all the remaining unrestricted free agent bigs as potential sign-and-trade candidates for the Wolves. Two reasons another team might be interested in doing that: (1) they like Josh Green and see potential room in their rotation for a player like him; and (2) they see relationship and reputational value in helping a player and more importantly the player’s agent get the money and destination the player wants. Minnesota is an attractive destination right now for a good PF who would likely have a significant maybe even starting role on a potential championship contender. Further, a sign-and-trade could facilitate a slight overpay by combining Josh and Mo at $17M - $2M over the non-taxpayer MLE. The other team cold waive Mo and keep the payroll hit at $14.8M on an expiring contract.
Re: 2026 FA/Trades/Resigns
I hate to burst your bubble, but teams in the 1st or 2nd apron CANNOT acquire a player via sign-and-trade. It sucks, because it eliminates a lot of possibilities!Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 9:22 am I would look at all the remaining unrestricted free agent bigs as potential sign-and-trade candidates for the Wolves. [Edit: well, if the Wolves wind up UNDER the 1st apron after the trade is completed, they can do it. But that ain't happenin'... ]

Jalen Smith makes $9.4 mil. They'd have to send us back something extra to make the money work.Phenom wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 9:19 amI'm still hoping that the Bulls would be open to moving Jalen Smith but probably not.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 9:12 am I just did a spotrac check of bigs that could remotely get swapped for Josh Green (so the numbers may be unofficial, but we can't take back more money than we send).

Unless you wanna swap out Green AND Shannon for Smith and the triumphant return of Rob Dillingham, it's not worth it.

Well Collins getting that money to be a starter on The Pistons is likely more money than the Wolves were ever going to offer unless maybe they didn't do the Ball deal. If I'm Collins I think the Pistons are a better landing spot for him than the Wolves before the Ball trade.kekgeek wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 9:10 amI do want to say it is Doogie. Heck, Dean Wade was never an option! Recall what an agent told me yesterday morning on the potential of his lower to mid-tier PF client landing here, “Not enough $$.”

Free agent center Nikola Vucevic has agreed on a one-year, $3.9 million deal to return to the Orlando Magic, sources tell ESPN. Vucevic -- who started his career in Orlando as a sophomore, spent nearly nine years with the Magic and has maintained a home there since -- turned down more lucrative offers elsewhere to reunite with the franchise.

Well the Bulls are a cap space team and are able to take back more salary. If you really want to get their attention you find a way to take Patrick Williams with Smith.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 9:34 amJalen Smith makes $9.4 mil. Donte and Green for Williams and Smith would probably interest them and that can be folded right into the current LaMelo/Claxton deal.

1. The Bulls have been spending money. Powell and Claxton have chewed up much of their space if they have any left.Phenom wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2026 9:56 amWell the Bulls are a cap space team and are able to take back more salary. 2. Donte on a ruptured Achilles is more playable than Patrick Williams. They'd have to send you two firsts to take on that contract.
3. Then we must sign James Wiseman to a minimum to have the top 4 picks of that draft on the same team lol
